    Holiday Haul

    Happy Holidays PE!

What were your best sex, drugs and rock n roll related gifts?

For me, aside from the usual bundle of socks and novelties, I received $125 gift card for Rasputin's Music!! Big score that will lead to multiple trips and countless hours browsing the racks!
Duncan's going to make a Horns Emoticon!!!

Ooh, I did pretty well (naturally, since my wife let me do the shopping, as all she ever wants to get me is clothes and stuff). From memory:

Rush - Time Machine BR and CD
Rush - Clockwork MF Angels BR and CD
Steve Hacket - Genesis Revisited: Live at Hammersmith 5-disk
Marillion - Holidays in Zelande (this was an upgrade from the DVD to the BR - they had a low-priced upgrade for people who'd bought the DVD set)
Marillion - Live at Cadogan (upgrade from DVD to BR)
Marillion - Brave Live 2013 BR

Plus I'd already got a few things in the Laser's Edge end-of-year sale, which I consider part of my holiday haul:

Yes - Close To The Edge reissue (CD/Blu-ray)
Steven Wilson - Drive Home (Blu-ray/CD)
Ayreon - The Theory Of Everything (2CD/DVD)
Camel - The Snow Goose (2013)

So I'm set for a while!

Sadly I never, ever get prog related gifts. I still can't complain, my family is more than genreous. The problem is, if I like the music enough, I buy it myslef. So nothing music related, but another big passion of mine is sports. I got a real nice collectable plaque of Mariano Rivera, titled "Exit Sandman", which includes some dirt from the mound from his last game, plus I also got a Rivery jersey, which I'm quite happy with.

I did forget that I got an Amazon gift card, which I know I'll use on music. I stopped by Vintage Vinyl here in NJ on Monday, and somehow couldn't find anything to buy. I'm rarely shut out there, but I guess so close to Christmas they didn't have the prog and metal selection they usually have. Guess I need to do a Laser's Edge or Symphonic order in addition to Amazon, and put my Christmas bonus to good use!

My sister gave me Robert Wyatt 68 from my Amazon wish list, despite not having a clue what she was giving me.

I got a Sawsall and a kindle Paperwhite. So I guess I'll be remodeling and reading this winter! I did get myself a set of RBH ep2 headphones. I've read good things so I thought I'd give them a whirl.

No music. I still have too much to catch up on.

I bought a bottle of bourbon, but that was just incidental. I did get a set of those little stones you keep in the freezer and put in a whiskey or whatever to chill it but not water it down.

I think Ed wins with those cookies. Dang!

I got to stay home for Christmas eve and day & to see the expression on my wife's face when she opened a package containing her 'Joey Votto 19' shirt.

That is an awesome photo. The sex connection isn't far off as I'd call that an example of food porn.

I'll try to get it back on track. Those cookies, mmmmm. My colleague at work got me a beautiful bottle of Belgian-style double IPA. I'm not a big fan of Belgians, but I'll suffer through it. Speaking of cookies, she also made me some peanut butter balls. I'm still back on track here!

My wife got me some cool stuff. Nothing prog or even music related. The ingredients for an oatmeal stout, a six of Founder's Porter (mmmmmm), some good beer and crock-pot recipe books, and a couple fun gag gifts. Got a bottle of Oban single-malt scotch from my sister's boy friend. He's a keeper.

The best gift of all, however, was a phone call from our son who moved to Myanmar this past spring. What a joy hearing from him that he's doing well.
    Lou

Looking forward to my day in court.
