    Zara-Thustra live!

Renate, do you know about this? How many other bands have a French horn player?

Zara-thrust where quite a unique band. This outfit of former Passport keyboardist Hermann Weindorf and his brothers
played some wagnerian electronic pop often bordering on Kitsch.

At the time of that video above they where only called Zara. I always kinda liked this song:

Yes, I know them, have their first two albums. The Weinberg brothers were also in another group, but I didn't like that one. I think Berthold Weinberg went from Zara-Thustra to Passport and not the other way round.

Are you sure? Eiskalt is from their debut album Eiskalt.

I see a Oberheim 4-voice in the clip, how cool is that.

Ad Libitum sure is a great song. Really love the opening with the timpani's and the organ. I don't understand why this group isn't more popular in prog-circles.

Hermann was with Passport from the Earthborn (82) album till the Talk Back album (88) so he was rather in both bands at the same time.

Its funny how ears are differently attached to ones heads.
This is absolutely horrible in my ears. No offence, but to me its close to 'schlagers' + some extra pompous keyboards.

    Ignore me, and proceed...

I thought this was cool; sort of a New Romantic synth/neo-prog crossover thingy. I guess the other band with the Weindorf brothers you’re referring to must be Panarama and what I heard was indeed lame; bland AOR-pop. Chris Rainbow sang lead with them.

That's a matter of opinion. There is enough prog I don't like, which is higly regarded in prog circles.

I think I prefer their German language music.
