VLC is great for those short films of an adult nature. Oh wait, that should have been my inside voice. Never mind.

I was using it for a long time now and never looked back.

I love using WinAmp for streaming.

Most of the time it recognizes mine. About the only time it doesn't is when I have something that I compiled myself (typically when I have a show where there's like 15 minutes that spilled over from the previous disc of a show, so I take two or three of those, or sometimes a radio session or whatever).

What irritated me was when it was screw up on official releases. One of the Glass Hammer albums, I think it might have been the Live At NEARfest deal, it mistook for Chronomotree. And it got some of the Grateful Dead Dick's Picks things mixed up.

I added some jams to two of my I-pods yesterday as a test with Winamp, painfully simple

Not sure how much it would interest folks, but I switched to Media Monkey not too long ago. Mostly because Windows Media Player choked on the size of my file library. Pretty solid librarian/player.
If you're actually reading this then chances are you already have my last album but if NOT and you're curious:

RealPlayer is almost as big a POS a Itunes, bloated with unwanted shite as I recall
My baby boi, (an IT guy), told me at dinner last night that it would be better if MS doesn't buy the rights to Winamp, as it would then likely become "open source", and be in the hands of rouge enthusiasts

Still have it as the basic player on my mobile phone... Computer-wise I switched to Foobar200 and VLC (for video) some years ago.
I tire of the ubiquitous iTunes and its many failings on my iPad and iPhone. Any ideas for a better media player to add?

This is unfortunate news. I've long used Winamp as I find it's less inclined to install crapware along with it (as long as you do a custom install). Also one of the main things I like about it is that with the modern skin I can stretch the interface so it is about 8 - 10 inches long and about 1/2 inch tall. Then it will 'dock' nicely at the very top of a window. In that space that's almost never used for anything. The song names scroll and I can see the all of the functions I need to see. And with the 'Always on top' feature it stays docked at the top of the screen over any windows I move or open on that monitor. If I was at home I could include a screen shot. I've not seen any other players that do this.

Based on your experience, I downloaded & installed this. It seems to do everything very nicely, so thanks for the recommendation.
Thonk98: Media Monkey also has that same docking capability that you mentioned (all stretched across the screen, 1/2" tall, & always on top).
iTunes went into my computer's recycle bin some time ago. I may just as well do the same with Winamp, but I'm inclined to wait a little while first to see what happens.
