Brilliant, why didn't we think of this before, now its easy to work out who the Big 5 are, all we have to do is determine their progginess & multiply it by their bigness to calculate their Prog Quotient.

Progginess should be determined by how much of their history has been prog (Tull = 20%), and how close they are to symph prog perfection at their proggiest (ELP = 90%, Henry Cow = 25%)
Bigness is a measure of the success (Beatles, Stones, Floyd = 100%, Flower Kings = 30%)

So lets look at the Big 5 candidates - Progginess first, both history % and perfection %, then Bigness

Yes = 60% x 100% x 70% = 42
Genesis = 40% x 100% x 85% = 34
Floyd = 80% x 40% x 100% = 32
ELP = 90% x 90% x 60% = 49
Tull = 20% x 50% x 70% = 7
Crimson = 100% x 60% x 50% = 30
Moodies = 25% x 90% x 50% = 11
Kansas = 30% x 70% x 60% = 13
Rush = 30% x 60% x 70% = 13
Gentle Giant = 90% x 90% x 30% = 24
Soft Machine = 25% x 50% x 30% = 4
VDGG = 100% x 25% x 40% = 10

So the statistical real Big 5 is

Crimson

Followed by
