Nice to hear Neal soloing on keys over this Dregs clasic - also love the slightly extended finale for Mike to build his drumming over - very cool.

I was not expecting a Dixie Dregs tune! Some of life's surprises are pleasant ones.

I just watched this a little bit ago. Great version! I loved this tune back in high school.

Neal is still a very underrated keyboard player, IMO.
Music isn't about chops, or even about talent - it's about sound and the way that sound communicates to people. Mike Keneally

Amazing that Neal doesn't play guitar at all in the FC concert (that I'm aware of thus far from the clips I've seen). Even on "June", Casey and Steve play the guitars and Neal just sings. He's almost equally impressive on guitar as on keys, so he's showing great restraint in letting the other guys play all the strings in this show. Check out his acoustic solo "Chautauqua" on the "Beware of Darkness" CD from Spock's...and that was what -- 15 years ago now? He's just an all-around phenomenal musician. Oh, let's not forget that he also will often trade places with Portnoy and sit in on drums during his solo shows!

I have never seen him play woodwinds, brass or harp but he seems like one those guys who can pick up anything and sound good. You are right he played no guitar with this band. This DVD from the three samples is going to be fantastic.
