Some folks look at a blank piece of paper and see just the blank page. When I look at a blank piece of paper I see so many things I can barely contain it in a single image. I also see things in the woodwork, the pavement, written in the sky, sometimes even sound waves are visible to me. There's always that voice, ancient and commanding, "Show them what you see." I obey, and the ritual of creativity begins again. It's a gift, or maybe it's just an obsession that smells like a gift. I hope my slow spiral into madness entertains you. Here's a painting I did in 1979. I called it "On the Eve of Destruction...we wait"

That is pretty much true. I kick out the aggression with a little Opeth or Rammstein and then smooth the waters with some Sunshine Company or The Free Design. Even though I often take a dark look at the world around me (or inside myself), I always balance it out with kittens and fluffy clouds....I am such a yin-yang. :P

That one was originally done as a possible new background for PE. Sean asked me to do something after I had finished their Speechless cover. But it was deemed a little too busy, and I'm not sure the people here would have accepted such a drastic change in scenery. The painting now lives in Canada. Sold it last year.

That was from 1977. I think I started it just before graduation and worked on it a little into June of that year. I went right from HS into becoming a stained glass glaziers apprentice, which I did for two years.

These paintings aren't like my other, more illustrative work. To me, they are the purest form of art I create. I always feel that I am tapping into a deeper vein of the imagination. I'd almost forgotten how much more fun they are to work on than the more complex psychedelic pieces. As it turns out, I am still on this path and shall see it to the end. Wherever it takes us.
