    miRthkon "Snack(s)" is now available!

People of earth! The newest miRthkon album "Snack(s)" is now available for CD purchase directly from us at any of our current European tour dates, and upon our return to the US at the end of September. Until then you can also hear it/download it at bandcamp:

    http://mirthkon.bandcamp.com/album/snack-s

It's an epic journey through time and space and mud and sweat and fear and loathing and love and rage. A reflection on the grotesque cycle of life.

    Thank you for listening,

    - Matt

more toe-tappers from you, Wally and company, i see. always going the top ten route, eh Matt?

my personal favourite there is Eat a Bag of DiX. a perfectly normal piece of music

also Hapax Legomana - some quite lovely moments in there, man. nicely done

best of luck with this release,

Been listening for the past half hour while browsing PE threads. I know it's not the best way to listen, but even so, I thought it was great! Though I can identify some "might be" influences, I think you guys definitely have a distinctive style of your own. Love the thick textures, cluster harmonies and the blend of saxes and guitars; kudos!

You just mentioned most of my favourite bands there! Including Pigment Vehicle - I didn't think anyone had heard of them!

Definitely a great release. Been spending a lot of time with it, and I like it better than the first. Seems a bit heavier, and although still unique and original, a little more focused, and direct than the first one. One of the best of 2013, in my book.

A great record indeed. Didn't expect to hear an arrangement of Barber's Nocturne (!), but beautifully done. I think there's a rich vein to mine for composition-oriented rock bands to create arrangements of compositions by "classical" composers of the early-mid 20th century. Sometimes that music hangs better on a rock band framework than orchestral instruments.

Depends on which composers you're talking about I think. Stuff like DSCH, Prokofiev, Bartok, Stravinsky, Schoenberg would translate beautifully, but other music like Sibelius, Ligeti, Debussy, Mahler, Lutoslawski, etc. that is so textural, colorful, and masterfully orchestrated could sound thin and severely watered-down, and possibly just shitty. Zappa was the master at this thing, but went a million other places besides this concept, whereas Denis and Trigeaux were also masters but were more conservative in the overall vision to stay within this "framework". Zappa used to say AAAFNRAA.
