Gov't Mule releasing new album Shout this month

Gonna be a great month for blues rock. New ones from North Mississippi Allstars, Tedeschi Trucks Band, and by the end of the month, the Mule roars once again on Sept 24th:

I had some trepidation about them getting some guest vocalists in the studio but this sounds like it will work.

I swear I'm psychic, er somethin.' Today I played "By A Thread" (the last Mule album from 2009). First Mule CD I've played in a while. I was thinking that it's time for a new Mule album. I watched the video. Sounds cool. I'm all over it. Auto buy

They played 8 of the 11 songs Tuesday night in New York.

A monster of a cd, imho!

Waiting for the album to arrive but I listened to it through my Amazon player. Seems to be leaned towards the funk side and damn, it's good. I do have my reservations about the bonus disc though.

OK - I finally cranked up the bonus disc on the living room stereo and yeah, it's decent. It'll never get as much play as the first disc but it's respectable.

Anyone have the Georgia Bootleg Box? Is it worth seeking out?

I'd dabbled in GM a couple years ago. For some reason, today I decided to look at Muletracks and found at least 4 shows I have to have.

Are you all still digging Shout! ? I've been 'encouraged' to stick with 'live' Mule, but which of their studio releases do you recommend? I have By A Thread and High & Mighty

I have "Dose", "The Deep End", and their deubut album, all of which I think are excellent. I actually just got around to ordering "Shout". It should arrive in a couple of days.

I actually think I like the second disc better. I find these songs take on a whole different meaning and have a more individualistic feel to them.

I was at both shows.....12/30 was supremely better than 12/31.....but I can understand why you want the doors set.

For me, it's the Doors thing that keeps me from sealing the deal.

Understood. I can think of a few bands' the Mule could cover that I'd pass on.

Listening to 'Life Before Insanity' on YT, I notice some similarity between the title song and LZ's 'Ten Years Gone." not identical, but similar enough for me to notice it.
