Just thought of another SEVEN decader who has released stuff every decade and is STILL active:

    Tony Bennett of course.

Can we find a living EIGHT decader, with recorded output over 8 decades?

Chuck Berry? Well he was most certainly playing in the 40s and was active as recently as 2 years ago, but his recording career started in the 50s and he hasn't released any new stuff since the 80s. So he's disqualified.

B.B.King? Started playing in the 40s. But again his recording career started in the 50s...so I'm still looking.

    SIX DECADES:

    Stevie Wonder....I think.....but I'm not sure...has he released anything since 2010?

Elton John, who has a new album coming out this month.

Cliff Richard also fits the bill.

Sun Ra, who is dead, still has new material released every now and again, so he would be around 7 or 8 decades (original records from the 40s on, I think). :-)

I'm pretty sure Pete Seeger has released new music every decade since the 40s.

The album is the soundtrack to the 1966 film of the same name, directed by Roy Boulting and starring Hayley Mills. The album was released under the name The George Martin Orchestra, The Family Way (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack).
If you add the fact that he stills performs Beatles tunes during his solo shows, songs that he wrote or cowrote, then add Macca to this list.

I believe he also released a single while still with the Beatles under another name to see if people were actually buying because of the music or the Beatles name brand.. so yeah he would qualify for sure..

Well, the OP requested bands, but that appears to have gone south, so I'll go with:

    Leonard Cohen
    Hammill (AGM)

Yes, but some bands only use the singer's or musician's name.
No one would argue that Neil Young, Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, Ace Frehley, Ozzy Osbourne, David Bowie etc. have fronted some serious rock line-ups.

I know, I thought of that but when I saw someone had posted David Bowie, I thought okay, 'artists' then, so included Tony Banks, even though some of the time was with Genesis and some not. I suppose Anthony Phillips could also be included then.
