There is now talk of her coming back. She wouldn't be the first to take a break in pro tennis.
Look at all the final concerts of rock bands that were anything but.

Right..., Henin, Clysters and Hingis to name just a few.

Too bad Ferrer couldn't pull it off this afternoon.

You know Nadal's going to slay Robredo any minute....

Growing up in Sunnyside (20 minutes from Forest Hills by bus or subway), my tennis playing aunt took me at least once & sometimes more every year. I saw players like Althea Gibson, Ken Rosewall, Laver, Margaret Court, Panchos Gonzalez & Segura etc. How could I forget Ilie Nastase (since I have 2 adopted Romanian kids).

I've been watching on & off since the US Open began. In HS, I was on the tennis team, but haven't hit in over 10 years.

I never thought these words would come from my mouth: "I love you, Chris"

I'm "in" ... I only watch the grand slam tournaments.

(I cannot play the game for shit - 'cuz I have approximately zero eye/hand coordination.)

I only went to the Open once as a kid growing up on Long Island, saw Ashe play. You're very lucky indeed!

Talking about concerts, I was at the Joan Baez concert at Forest Hills Tennis Stadium in 1966 when she introduced a young kid that no one had heard of. He sang 3 songs, "Masters Of War", "With God On Our Side" & "Blowin' In The Wind", and even though his "Freewheelin'" album was a year away, already had those songs written.

After that night and the ensuing articles in the NY Times & Village Voice, more & more people started to be aware of this guy.

The whole audience that night was completely gobsmacked and gave this unknown dude a standing ovation.

Suarez Navarro against Serena on hard courts should be illegal, though she did beat Kerber in the 4th round somehow.
    Pennetta is still hot, yes!

Cibulkova is IT for me! Ormaecha isn't bad either.
On another topic, why on Earth do people who are in the stands watching matches listen to the
commentators at the same time? It's annoying enough often times on TV. It's part of our weird
    culture, I suppose.

Gentlemen, they could probably all be your daughters, some of them maybe even your granddaughters.

Or perhaps a threesome with BJ and Martina!

Murray's out - good, that guy is such a whiner. Hopefully Wawrinka can go all the way!

Yeah, Murray's always been moody & inconsistent.

It would be awesome to watch Wawrinka take down the mighty Nadal.

    we'll see.....,
