And if there were a god, I think it very unlikely that he would have such an uneasy vanity as to be offended by those who doubt His existence - Russell
Music isn't about chops, or even about talent - it's about sound and the way that sound communicates to people. Mike Keneally

I remember loving Angel's first album when I was 13.
The photos on the album sleeve showed a normal looking long haired rock band in jeans and T shirts.
I couldn't wait for the second album , but when I saw their new getup & schtick I threw up, not to mention the songwriting suffered also.

Separated at birth?
And it doesn't get much better than this:
no tunes, no dynamics, no nosebone
Well, the Rush kimonos or the Max Webster outfits were not exactly cool either
but what to expect from country hicks like Kansas... It was stupendous and unlikely enough that these prairie dudes played something elmse but country or country rock, that it was fine as it was... expect them to dress up like Squire or Wakeman??
They'd have gotten beaten up by redneck neighbours for being queers when they got back home between tours
one of the worst thing about Squire's ridiculous outfits was that he emptied the band's petty cash box to go buy those... without telling the others... or ask their consent... apparently one of the few reasons for Bruford leaving the group (Jon turning a place in a pigsty almost instantly being another)
my music collection increased tenfolds when I switched from drug-addicts to complete nutcases.

This crazy-ass feather costume isn't enough - let me dye my hair three different colors.

And here's something a bit more recent to show how his tastes matured over the years !!!

After seeing some of these, the Wakeman capes are not so bad. Someone Mentioned Kansas and the tux Rich Williams used to wear. I doubt it was a cheap tux, it was a typical tux from the 70's. Look at old prom and wedding photos from then, it's the same thing.
While many of these stage outfits were ridiculous, I still prefer a band attempting a more theatrical look than just blue jeans and t-shirts. Hell, sports team jersey's are better than that. A band is doing a performance, a show, not just playing in a garage or studio, they should make some kind of effort in their appearance.
Ah yes, I wondered when the Todd Rundgren Butterfly Man outfit would show up. Supposedly, Todd had a stylist at the time, who suggested the outfit for his appearance on The Midnight Special.
“Hello, It’s Me” was shooting up the charts and had peaked at #5 when this clip hit the airwaves. It promptly dropped off the charts. Hmm...wonder why?
