interesting you picked the more natural looking of all the outdoor shots. the barn shots have more of an HDR look than the bridge imo but that's just me. if i used a preset like Painterly on the bridge then maybe it would come out looking more like the barns but as it is, i used Photographic which is more natural. the results you get can also vary depending on the software you use. eg: i used Nik's HDR engine for the color barn shot. it's all what looks good to you as the photographer..

nycsteve--I think Instagram allows text and pictures. I just started an account there not long ago. A lot of vinyl and other collectors hang out there.

I wondered if anyone had used Photoshop? Which version do you have and is there a better version? Are there better photo programs to enhance photos? What are some of the better features to use? Thanks.

Nice photos of Sting, showing his age a bit, but man, still slim and in shape.

    I use Gimp.

Unless you're a REAL pro, Gimp is just as good as Photoshop ... and it's free.

I just clean up my shots a bit with the program that comes with iPhoto. A little cropping, a few minor enhancements and that's it.

Lightroom 6 in my case. It's horrible bloatware in many respects, but it is very effective.

Photoshop is a much heavier photo editing platform: masks, layers, retouching, repair, swaps, etc. - - - a more "one-off" type of affair.
Lightroom handles files in a different way - and allows for a more "workflow" oriented process from beginning to end - with a smaller editing pallet.

thx.. it was taken in color initially, i did all the usual color adjustments (saturation, brightness) first, added an On1 effect then converted it to mono using the full dynamic preset of Nik's Silver Effects Pro. and of course sharpening and noise reduction.

now i just have to figure out what that missing image was..

Nice stuff! Yeah the bridge is cool but the trolley photo is superb imo! The whole composition of it! I need to pick up my camera again and get crackin'!

    Stephen, those photos are fantastic!

    thanx all..
i've been debating which pics i'm going to submit to the local fair but it's tough because i can only choose 2. But Yves compliment on the trolley pic (one of many for that one) i think has put me over the edge for the first image. i just need a second one.

A picture talks to you immediately or it doesn't . That one spoke to me the first time I saw it.

One little thing. I'd crop the green tarp on the right hand side of the photo, just to the edge of the roof of the small house there. Just to clean it up a little, though it's nitpicking just a bit.
