No All the Best Cowboys Have Chinese Eyes? That was certainly one of my most played albums that year, along with Elvis Costello's Imperial Bedroom.

    Peter Gabriel: IV (Security)

One of the first CDs i ever bought: must have played it 100+ times (at least! ) back then. I became a HUGE fan of solo Peter from this one. (Was aware of III, but this one pushed me over the edge into PG adulation.) I played the IV CD constantly: everyone who came in "contact" with me eventually became a fan of Gabriel too because i played it so often in the early 80's. (Boy, was i disappointed when So came out four years later--but that's fodder for a different thread.)

It took at least that many plays to really start hearing the music. Once I realized the musical brilliance here, I played it another 100 times.

1982 was one of the Golden years of New Wave\Alternative\Ska\Gloom\Rockabilly\etc. I don't think I bought any/much prog from about 79-86...

    1982 highlights:
    The Church: The Blurred Crusade
Echo & the Bunnymen: Heaven Up Here
    Psychedelic Furs: Forever Now
    Cure: Pornography
    Simple Minds: New Gold Dream
    U2: October
    Duran Duran: Rio
    Spandau Ballet: Diamond
    Flock of Seagulls: First LP
    Fun Boy Three: First release
    Madness: Rise & Fall
    Bad Manners: Forging Ahead
    English Beat: Special Beat Service
    Thompson Twins: First release
    The Jam: The Gift
X: Under the Big Black Sun
    Police: Ghost in the Machine
    Greggory Isaacs: Night Nurse
    Black Uruhu: Chill Out
    Ultravox: Quartet
    Depeche Mode: A Broken Frame
    OMD: Architecture & Morality
    Soft Cell: Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret
    Human Leauge: Dare
    Talk Talk: The Party's Over
    New Order: Movement
    Visage: The Anvil
    Japan: Tin Drum
    Modern English: After the Snow
    Stray Cats: Built for Speed

    And 1983 was even better!
