Why is it whenever someone mentions an artist that was clearly progressive (yet not the Symph weenie definition of Prog) do certain people feel compelled to snort "thats not Prog" like a whiny 5th grader?

As long as we're now citing obscure-ish Fripp appearances, how 'bout his turn on The Stranglers live album? (And, yup, that's PH on vox.)

I want to dynamite your mind with love tonight.

My favorite produced-not-played-on album would be Matching Mole's Little Red Record. But my real answer would be No Pussyfooting.

It was actually reported in the press at the time that Hammill was going to replace Hugh Cornwell in the Stranglers while Cornwell was in jail.

I haven't heard the JPJ but I agree that the two he did with Andy Summers are real good and quite under rated imo.

How many songs is Robert on Thunderthief?

Just the opening track, I believe.

If we're talking just one track, "Regiment" from My Life in the Bush of Ghosts is a great tune.

I'd probably say my two favorites are Sylvian/Fripp "The First Day" and Daryl Hall "Sacred Songs" ... two very different albums but both are quite good for what they are.

Also bonus points for Fripp's guest spot on JPJ's "The Thunderthief"

Did not know that, for some reason. Great tune.

    No Pussyfooting.

However, if you asked for my favorite non-KC, non-solo song involving Fripp, that'd be "Baby's on Fire." Hell of a guitar solo on that one.

Very difficult to pick one. I like a lot of the albums that are mentioned so far. But I really want to add "Fear Of Music" by Talking Heads to that. There's not much Fripp on it, but the remastered CD/DVD-A version has some more (really manic) Fripp guitar on it.

^ Oh? What else did he play on that they cut? On the original album, he's just on the first track, right?

Yes, you're right. On the original album he only plays on "I Zimbra". The remaster had a killer bonus track: "Life During Wartime" with Fripp playing his guitar in disc cutter mode from the first to the last bar of the song. Very manical! I think they decided it was a bit too much and left the Fripp guitar part out of the album version. It maybe is a bit overdone, but still it is fascinating stuff.

I agree it's a great tune, but not Fripp. That's David Byrne on guitar I think.

I always assumed it was Adrian Belew, but don't see him in the credits...
