I just stumbled upon this YouTube video of an Indonesian gothic progressive metal band using the Nektar name.
Clearly, the original band has some rights that are being violated.

Oddly enough, it's happened to Synergy before, too.
How hard can be for a band member to go online and google "nektar band wiki" and see what comes up? Then they'd do the smart thing and pick another name.
There's a British band called FM as well...been around since the mid 80s, releasing 7 or 8 albums. http://www.fmofficial.com/

There's also I forget how many bands named Magma, including an Estonian boy band! I was looking for some Magma videos on Youtube, and I found there's another new one that's posted some videos on Youtube.
There are two Circus Maximuses, one current and one from days of yore.
Progtopia is a podcast devoted to interviewing progressive rock, metal, and electronic artists from the past and present, featuring their songs and exclusive interviews. Artists interviewed on the show have included Steve Hackett, Sound of Contact, Larry Fast, Circus Maximus, Anubis Gate, Spock's Beard, and many more. http://progtopia.podomatic.com See you in a land called Progtopia!
Kind of bizarre if you ask me. There's a lot of bands in the prog world that have the same name. You would think in this day and age of the internet it would easily be avoided by using google but apparently not.
I doubt they used google or did a YouTube search
if they did, they'd know how "so 2003" beauty'n the beast bands were.
Compact Disk brought high fidelity to the masses and audiophiles will never forgive it for that
if somebody gos to look up indonesian Nektar and stumbles upon the real Nektar...could be some new fans for the old gits.
Apparently there is a band called Ephemeral Sunrise out there. Meh...they look very young and we are all crusty old shiats. So, whatevs
Well, if it keeps them off the streets for a while, I say good for them.
At last count there were 2,764 bands called Toxic Shock in Van Nuys alone.
I was reading a thread on PA the other day about Phlox and it took me a few minutes to realise they were talking about an Indonesian band rather than the Estonian band. It's all so confusing.

There are only 10 types of people in the World, those who understand binary and those that don't.
And the really weird thing is that "Sholatun" means "Recycled"!
...(ok, maybe it doesn't)
There was a South American Genesis back in the 70's and I believe there was a British Nirvana from the 60's or 70's as well? We had a band named Nirvana in Puerto Rico as well, way before the Seattle Nirvana but when the Seattle Nirvana came out they changed the name to Post Nirvana.
I live in an ephemeral eternity
Of course, there was a Genesis before the Gabriel-led band. They're listed on some old West Coast concert posters as late as '68.
That wasn’t FM, it was Ph.D.:
Incidentally, I believe that was the second ever music video shown by MTV. It was definitely shown in their first hour of broadcasting.

There was a band in the late '60's called: Ars Nova....I'm pretty sure they played at the Fillmore East SEVERAL times.
