^ LOL, I thought about posting that one but I so often do. It's one of the weirder ones, but she's got quite a rack. Also, while it looks like it would be hot there, it's obviously quite cold.

I take it you all realise that the Beast "is" Ian, whilst the other 4 band members can be found in the corners of the picture frame. Even the back cover is very good on this one.

As an illustrator, I generally (but not always), prefer painted covers instead of photocopied or photography, but I love Gryphon's Midnight Mushrumps image.

One album cover that has made an impression on me since childhood was Elton's Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy. Not prog, however it is a concept album. Looking at it again, it's still pretty stylish.

Does anyone know what the band was - I think it was a well-known 90s britpop band like Blur, Oasis, Suede, etc. - that featured a mostly red background, with a hot girl on all fours, and you could sort of put two copies down oriented the right way and see the whole girl (she was scantily clad). I just can't seem to find this, and can't remember for sure what the band was.

A few recent ones that I absolutely love:

Hey, that's not a VCO in Emerson's pocket, he's just happy to see you!

To answer the question though, I'd say "In the Court of the Crimson King".

The best Spinal Tap-esque covers that pop into my mind would be "Don't Break the Oath" (Mercyful Fate) and Attila S/T (Billy Joel's first band-he plays like Jon Lord).

I like that one a lot. Interesting the painting of the tree is not the same tree. Makes you wonder what the artist sees.

LOL - I thought of that one when I posted the TYR cover above. Yes, and excellent nipple cover, that one. Actually, the cover isn't so great, but the nipples are...spectacular.
