Roger Hodgson Concert Review Clearwater FL

This past Friday night I did something I've never done: Road trip just to see an artist play! I've wanted to see Roger play since he started touring again, but he never came to Atlanta. In January he announced some of his 2013 tour (read on, you'll see why I just said that) and the closest place he was playing was in Clearwater FL, with full band and orchestra. My wife (who is a huge Supertramp fan like me) decided to make it a long weekend and go. Let me tell you, this show ranks in my Top 10 Best ever! And I've seen Yes more than 35 times, Genesis quite a few, ELP. I even saw Supertramp in 1979 in support of Breakfast in America....(yes I'm old!) Roger played for over 2 hours!!! It may be hard to believe, but he and his band sounded BETTER than Supertramp. With the full orchestra, this show just rose to the next level. He played 17 of his Supertramp songs and 2 solo. Even played my favorite Supertramp song ever: Fool's Overture! With symphony! Just incredible!

The show was sold out, with people from much further away than us. The couple to our from Canada. Couple to our right from Brazil! And everyone was very attentive. Not much chatter going on. I think we were all lifted to a place just for true music fans!

If you've never seen Roger Hodgson and have a chance to go, please do. You will LOVE the show, especially with orchestra. I was so impressed I wanted to read if there were any reviews of the show. (This was the first U.S. stop on the tour). So I went to his web site to see. While there I noticed more of his tour has been announced now.

Guess who's coming to Atlanta August 18? I could be going again!!!!

Same for me, when he played near Seattle last year. Absolutely phenomenal show. Easily in the top 10 of the 100 or so shows I've attended. Anyone who loves Supertramp should not miss this show!

He's coming back to Seattle, well the Snoqualmie Casino, on August 12th. I doubt there will be an orchestra. I plan on being in attendance again.

Yep, Snoqualmie is where I saw him last year as well. Can't wait for tickets to go on sale for the next show!

I was at Roger Hodgson's Clearwater show, too. I have seen just about everyone in concert and I can tell you that this show has now topped my list of the absolute best live shows I have ever seen. I had read where a journalist said Roger's band sounds even better than Supertramp and I wholeheartedly agree! What a night - I could have listened to them for hours more. Roger's voice is incredible and sounds even better today than on my Supertramp vinyls. How refreshing it was to see him up there on stage and smiling. It is rare to see an artist who is so obviously enjoying himself and not just going through the motions. The crowd in Clearwater was great with their loud applause and standing ovations which made the night even more special.

It was such a delight for me to see Roger perform some of my favorite songs such as Give a Little Bit, Dreamer, The Logical Song, Take the Long Way Home, Breakfast in America, and so many more. Many people don't realize that although Roger and Supertramp's other co-founder shared writing credit, they actually wrote and composed separately with each singing their own respective songs. This explains why all these years I have been skipping songs in the car and even while listening to my vinyls!

I'm thinking about heading to NY in June when Roger performs in Rochester. I have heard many people say that once you see him, you automatically start planning for the next time. Now I understand that completely. It's great that he is now touring the US more and more. If anyone was or is a Supertramp fan, it's Roger's show they need to see! Check out his tour dates on his website - http://www.RogerHodgson.com.

    so excited!

Been waiting patiently for my show to come up on June 25, 2013. My wait will finally be over, and I can cherish the moment. I only have one question, do you stand or sit, cause the Moody Blues are the first concert last year pretty much everyone sat in there seats. It was my first to sit like sardines, very small venue? Just curious ...
