It's always been a problem but seems worse this year. Why do bands all tour at the same time in May and October?
Do they all think that they are so much better than everyone else and don't have to fight for hard earned fan money. Like many prog fans on this site, I like lots of different bands, so it really annoys me when I make the effort to go to a major festival like ROSfest in May and end up missing a whole load of tours by other bands whilst I'm away. This year I miss Pendragon, Spock' Beard, Mostly Autumn, Fish and Rush because I'm away. What makes it even more annoying is that you can bet there will be no-one decent touring from then through until October when a similar problem will occur and then again through the winter months. I'm sure that if bands picked different tour windows then they would get more people attending, especially if they don't have to compete with the prog juggernauts.
I recognise that this may be more of a European problem than a US problem, where prog band visits are few and far between, but just wondered what people thought?
