    Hello Gang!.

First time here with the music of Ken Vandermark, an american composer, saxophonist and clarinetist.
“Escalator” has been my “entry door” to his universe/music:
    https://youtu.be/Szb8YC4pMTg

    Now I’m watching:

    Some more:

    I’m really enjoying it!!.
    Pura Vida!.

There are two kinds of music. Good music, and the other kind. ∞
    Duke Ellington.

I blame Wynton, what was the question?

Superb, had great seat, band was ultra tight, full of energy and having a good time. One of my favorite live acts. Played for 90 minutes, three long pieces.

Ditto on the Vandermark 5. Sorry I missed them when they were in town about 6-7 years ago.

Not sure how I was unaware of Ronin being here last night. I would have gone.

Man, that Jonathan Finlayson album is superb.
Made me dig out Moving Still...which led me to Miles Okazaki's last couple, which led me to Steve Lehman's Mis en Abime.

It's been a good few days of listening! And gonna be a few more, at least.

Not sure how many of you caught this one from 2016, but French violinist, DOMINIQUE PIFARÉLY's release, "Tracé Provisoire", on ECM is worth checking out.

    RIP Roy Hargrove

Not being a "young lions" guy, I've only heard a smattering of his stuff; a good player.

49 is way too young. A great player - but here we go again - fuck drugs!

Very sad. I saw him with Michael Brecker, Herbie Hancock, John Patitucci and Brian Blade. I'd never heard anything from him prior to that and I was very impressed. R.I.P.

Well, he died of heart failure, but was on dialysis for the past 13 years due to kidney failure. So, why the comment re "drugs?" Do you know something we do not?

He was in the papers a few years ago for being arrested for cocaine possession. Not sure if his drug use was related to his health problems? No matter, may he rest in peace.

Years ago, it was well known that he was "on the pipe;" whether he remained so I don't know.

oh great... I was waiting for that one

Saw them in the package tour of We Out Here - a London Story over two days in early April.
my music collection increased tenfolds when I switched from drug-addicts to complete nutcases.
