This is an outstanding record - one of the very best from last year. The way she explores the spaces created in the encounters between the jazz tradition & the music of Northern Africa is revelatory - as is the extraordinary tone of her specially tuned horn.

Also one of the classiest album sleeve I've seen in ages... extremely well-made with an excellent booklet.
my music collection increased tenfolds when I switched from drug-addicts to complete nutcases.

Here's a question about an oldie. I was playing Cannonball's Somethin' Else yesterday morning and at the end of one of the tracks I hear a raspy voice talking. Is that Miles?

Thanks. I've seen a few vids of Miles and knew he had a raspy voice but you never know. I should pick up some more of his albums, I only have a few.

    Gang!:
Right now I am on the 3rd spin of Julian Lage´s Modern Lore greatest for this 2018: (IMO)

    JL ML.jpg

"On Modern Lore, Julian Lage’s second studio recording with his trio, the composer and guitarist focuses on the groove, building his melodies and solos around the work of the prodigious rhythm section of double bassist Scott Colley and drummer Kenny Wollesen. Modern Lore finds Lage playfully flipping the script he followed on his acclaimed 2016 Mack Avenue debut, Arclight."

*The Ramble* is the first track of the album:

Wow - as much as I love Scott Colley and Kenny Wollesen, I think this rhythm section is burning. Ted Poor is a complete badass.
