^^^^Reid, i dug some of the Either/Orchestra stuff.

Sean Bergin (1948-2012) was a saxophone player who was part of the second wave of expatriot musicians from South Africa who settled in Europe(Holland in Bergin's case).
Kids Mysteries is an album Bergin made in 1988 with M.O.B.(my own band).An all star lineup of mostly Dutch jazz/free jazz luminaries, including Han Bennink on drums,Alex Maguire on piano, Michael Moore on sax/clarinet,Eric Boeran on trumpet,among others.I've owned Kids Mysteries for years and it gets the occasional spin at Casa de Walt.Here's a track from the cd, which is available.

I've been a fan of Hamilton for years, too...his newest record has some top-echelon guest stars, which is cool and will probably provide more exposure...but I think he wails with his own band. I have Brasilianos, and his Musica das Nuvens E Do Chao, they are both worth finding as well.

Apparently there's "Brasilianos 2" and "Brasilianos 3" out now. I have you to thank for the first Brasilianos album, Cone. I discovered him from the live Joao Bosco DVD, but didn't know he had his own band until you hipped me to it, so... THANKS!

Projeto B creates polyrhythmic music infused with contemporary jazz and strongly influenced by the modern sounds of their home city of São Paulo, Brazil. This year, the band celebrates its 12th anniversary and the release of their third album, A Viagem de Villa-Lobos, a tribute to the Brazilian composer Heitor Villa-Lobos.
Brazil’s Jornal O Globo said the album “deserves to be in a best-of-the-year list of Brazilian music records.” The album offers a sonic exploration of Villa-Lobos’ experiences during his first trip to Paris in 1923 when he first comes into direct contact with the music of Igor Stravinsky.

Two fantastic musician/composers from a country with tons of great music! I have three Hermeto albums, but neither of those, so thanks! I used to have some Gismonti on vinyl, but my vinyl collection is long gone and I definitely need some music by him!

Back to American jazz, here's a track from (guitar player) Ben Monder's latest album, "Hydra." His stuff seems to be more influenced by modern classical than jazz, but whatever, it's fascinating stuff:

I listened to Escalator Over the Hill yesterday, in it's entirety...largely driven by my reading of Jack Bruce's bio. That's one strange bit o' music, but I dig it.....don't ask me what it's about, though....it's got that late 60's/early 70's vibe, eh?
