Allman Brothers: Burning up the Beacon Theater once again

Anyone on PE making it to these shows. Looks like the band is cooking with gas.

I've always wanted to go, but have never made it to any of these shows. There's always alot of guests and surprises.

Cool concert review. I would love to see the Allman Brothers, who I last saw in the mid-70s. I don't think they have played Reno since the late '90s, when I was unable to attend. Hope they head out this way again one day. I know their Beacon shows are famous, but I'm never going to see New York.

I don't go every year, but I try to go once every 3 -5 years. Caught one show last year and it was great as always. Love the fact that the band plays a different set every night, and you never know what guests will show up.

I'm waiting for them to tour the west coast again. In the meantime, I'm still playing bass in my Allman Bros.

What a decent sounding bands, including excellent vocals.

Sorry, I can't stop. Your band is amazing. If you ever travel to Canada (highly unlikely, I'm sure), I'd be at the front of the line.

Thanks for the compliment. It's really nice to be appreciated by someone on here who've never seen us live. Very nice. We don't travel outside the San Francisco Bay Area, not that we would rule it out if the opportunity arose. Gigs are booked by the band members, which is always challenging. You can find other videos on Youtube if you type in Allman Step Brothers. I played with the keyboard player in another Allman Bros. tribute band in the 90s. Thanks again and remember Dan Toler, who just died a few days ago.

Wow, I didn't know Dan had died. There wasn't a RIP thread on here, was there? Thanks for the link Rob. The Allman Brothers music belongs in a live setting. I haven't been in the bay area for years ever since my step-daughter moved from Walnut Creek. It's beautiful out there, but expensive.

Dan was so talented, a shame. He had ALS. Walnut Creek is expensive, certainly. Our second drummer lives there.

Try contacting the Crystal Bay Casino on the north shore of Lake Tahoe. Sometimes they will pay a band to play in the bar, just to get people in there buying drinks and gambling. The Mermen have played there, and made good use of the many video monitors on the walls. They also have a larger, rectangular "concert" room for ticketed events, where I saw the Jimmy Herring Band. If you have a gig there, I will drive up to see you.

Their website isn't opening at the moment, but it is

Thanks a lot for the suggestion! I'll look into it. Any other gig suggestions are greatly appreciated.

For those interested, there is a box set of Duane Allman recordings coming out March 19 called Skydog: The Duane Allman Retrospective. Looks like it could be interesting stuff.

It does indeed. Too pricey at this point for me.

Reading through what's on the 7 discs you'd find that alot seem to match what was on the Duane Allman Anthology discs and then alot of Allman Brothers. I think they could have cut this down to maybe 3 discs of some unreleased material and made it cheaper.

I'm with you. Maybe they will. I have some Allmaniac friends on FB and will get the whole scoop on it when they've finished listening to it.

I would LOVE to see the ABB return to the Pittsburgh area. But, I don't think there's enough of a market, which is sad, though not surprising.

You may want to try Rio Theater in Santa Cruz as well as DonQuixote's near Santa Cruz. I've seen high quality tribute bands at both these places. Will try to check you guys out regardless.

Excellent! The two guitarists that live down that direction will follow up on these two venues. I certainly did not mean to hijack this thread, but am so grateful for the suggestions. Allman Brothers Rule!!!
