    another great Bass line

Glide by Pleasure (totally underrated Funk/Jazz artist)
Why is it whenever someone mentions an artist that was clearly progressive (yet not the Symph weenie definition of Prog) do certain people feel compelled to snort "thats not Prog" like a whiny 5th grader?

One of my favorites is Jon Camp's bass in the last couple minutes of Song For All Seasons. Here's a live version that's not as good as the studio but interestingly, it comes right after he plays a 12 string acoustic part...

Martin Turner Wishbone Ash , outro to Sometime World.

John Wetton Larks Tongues pt 2, that ‘solo’ riff after the guitar build up.

Yes I really grew into this album, (with the exception of 'Sandra's a Phonie' and 'None of Your Business'), especially those 3 Peter Veitch tunes, 'Singapore', 'Farewell My Lovely' that you mentioned, and 'Eberehtel'.

Thela Hun Ginjeet - Tony Levin
    Journeyman - John Glascock
Ashes are Burning - any of the live versions I've heard by Jon Camp - he did some fabulous stuff with it
Walk on the Wild Side - Herbie Flowers
Hyperactive - Thomas Dolby (or Matthew Seligman?)
Breathing - incredible bass playing by John Giblin

Give me 5 minutes and I'll have 6 different ones

I was seriously considering including a track from this album, either this one or Batteries Not Included. Pegg is just insane on this album, a veritable bass clinic. Don't love all the compositions, but nothing but admiration for those bass tracks!

As is predictable in a thread like this, it's turning into an "I know obscure stuff that you don't" contest.

    Alas.
Cobra handling and cocaine use are a bad mix.

That does happen. But here is one of my fave bass lines of all time, something I have posted in other threads. This is why I began playing bass back in the late 1960s.

    Alas.
Why alas? Surely the point of reading these threads is to find something you haven't heard before and maybe come away with something new to listen to. No point in just listing Yes or King Crimson tunes everybody knows.

I gotta say I never would have thought of the Beatle's Rain but as soon as I saw Udi's post I could hear in my mind the understated yet beautifully weaving baseline that really anchors that arrangement, not to mention the delicious fat tone of the bass. L'Chaim
