I had pulled the other a couple of 45's out , old originals, record store special editions and other stuff that I had never listened too or not for a very long time among them a crackly Nights In White Satin, Kraftwerks Mannequins, Billy Preston Nothing From Nothing , Peter Gabriel : the look of love, but my biggest surprise was a 2017 Warpaint track :A New Song, which has quite a classic guitar and vocals based sound and still sounded completely diffrent to my ears then lets say a classic Stones or Beatles or vocal wise Runaways records
Which brings me to my question. What are the important sound changes in rock from a recording point of view from let's say mono 50's rock n'roll records up to today's software based recording techniques and what are corresponding landmark records and who produced them?
