A little Rotters' Club for me this morning, and some Hugh Hopper on deck while I wait for my wife to sleep off her staff party hangover. Last night was a savage, Canterbury CD-ripping/playlist-making free-for-all where caution was thrown to the wind, and my neighbours got a loud, healthy dose of Joy Of A Toy and the MGP debut album (I hope they appreciated the lengthy drum solo)!

Thought you guys might like to see this Instagram post, just for fun!

Fantastic player and composer. I'm looking forward to hearing his new album. His latest Verlaine Gisant album was amazing.
The album by Greaves Life Size is brilliant! I highly recommend it to all greavanados here!

Maybe not really Canterbury, but I just got Robert Wyatt's Comicopera in the mail today and I'm looking forward to hearing it.

I'd say it's fairly Canterbury and fairly good, although not as profoundly so as Shleep or Cuckooland. And although he may play scorch on his sax, Gilad Atzmon remains a dubious inclusion - and is still no Evan Parker, who graces Shleep with his presence.

But Comicopera was certainly a worthy career-closer. Yet I'm glad '68 became his final actual statement, as it kinda rounds up things.

This new one from Rascal Reporters is very Canterbury:

And also their latest full length album The Mind Boggles from 2008, very much an ultra-avant Canterbury vibe:

Well, today I listened to that first Matching Mole CD again, and the bonus disc. Not sure why, but that's got to be a top 5 Canterbury album for me.

Also: I just realized I need more Henry Cow, pronto!

In the meantime, on to Hatfield.

Really like those Amoeba Split discs. Very nice stuff.

I didn't realize how many years there were between them though. Crazy!

    Because it's a great album!

Played both Hatfields yesterday. I was commenting elsewhere about how there are certain albums which never fail to amaze, no matter how many times you've heard them. Both are solid examples.
