It's a fantastic piece of music, with no parallel to anything before or after it. You need to listen to this, there's no way really to describe it.

Yes Munster I was referring to the Italian group Museo Rosenbach. I also agree there are even better one-off Progressivo Italiano's out there, but I still think Zarathustra has some wonderful moments and one of the most beautiful melodies/themes ever for my money.

Yes! Nice to see this underrated (and even panned) album get well-deserved kudos. Kerry's crashing piano chords on the title track alone make it worth the price of admission, but maybe I'm eccentric...

Yes, that theme is gold. But it lifts the expectations so high, that it makes it painful not to ever see them fulfilled.

^^^ exactly Zap! They set the bar so high on that opening theme that the rest of the album was rather anti-climatic.

Don't want to dispute you needlessly, but Supertramp is one of the big whatever in whatever style band

But yeah, Crime is definitely up there.
my music collection increased tenfolds when I switched from drug-addicts to complete nutcases.

    It's great by the way.

Brutal choice:....depending on my mood....and, in no particular order...

    GG - Interview
Mars Volta - Frances the Mute
    VDGG - Pawn Hearts
    Soft Machine - Grides
    G.A.S -aholic

Damn! Based on your other choices I gotta check out that Mars Volta album!

I always thought Interview is a step towards the abyss in relation to what had occurred before. This second more-than-positive opinion (and again by someone whose taste has a lot of credibility for me) forces me to go back and revisit.

I can see that due to "Give it Back" which pointed in the threatening direction of a more commercial approach, but do revisit and let us know what you think.

Lyrically, it's a deeply personal LP, exploring conflicted emotions and unsettled states of mind. The music, high-lghting keys and winds, perfectly captures the vibe through drones and extended workouts that mesmerize, inducing an almost trance-like affect.

Other fantastic tracks - should be played loud:
    "Another Show"
    "Empty City"
    "Timing"
    "I Lost My Head"

Yes indeed... and of course the title track... and "Design"! it's just a great album in my book. I like "Give it Back" too which although isn't one of the heavy GG killers, still has a very nice arrangement indeed. Hell, I thought if GG farted I would like but then "Giant for a Day" came out...

    I think I’ll go with:

    Änglagård - Hybris

But these were my close runner ups:

Il Balletto di Bronzo - Ys
    Camel - Mirage
    England - Garden Shed
    U.K. - S/t

Too many favorites to choose just one.
I would be happy with my collection on shuffle forever.

About Interview, yes, it's much better than I remembered, particularly side 2. The arrangements and production appear to me a bit dry, and the first traces of commercialization creep in, but on the whole it's good, old Gentle Giant.
But I wouldn't put it on the same level with the first 5 albums. I don't see the same level of creativity and inspiration in Interview.

Unfair to include live albums! Hard enough to pick a fav studio album
