    RIP Ricky Jay

The greatest sleight-of-hand magician of our times. This guy was pretty amazing.

I was just talking to my daughter about him.

I have one of his books about the early days of circus sideshow acts. One of the great book titles: "Learned Pigs and Fireproof Women."

Sad news. I have that book too. I haven't seen him in a long time, but remember when he was on talk shows a lot, doing his card throwing.

I loved him in the X-Files episode he was in ("The Great Maleeni" I think), but never really knew much about him except that he was, in fact, a magician and sleight-of-hand artist. Reading his obits an a lengthy New Yorker magazine article about him makes me want to know more; he sounds like he was a fascinating person. RIP

I read that article mentioned in the first paragraph. It's long as hell, but highly recommended.

He was probably my favorite living magician (since Slidini died). I guess that mantle now falls on the Bad Boys.
Cobra handling and cocaine use are a bad mix.
