Links?
The wait has been over for awhile. Wounded Bird released this a year ago.
Yeah, I've had this for a while. Good album.
Can't compare as I've never heard the other one. Sound on the WB release seems fine to me, they usually do a good job with their stuff. Haven't spun it for a while so I'll revisit with that in mind, but I don't recall any issues.

or on MT's thread about this album (though I couldn't find it)
my music collection increased tenfolds when I switched from drug-addicts to complete nutcases.
96/24 available on HD Tracks and it sounds pristine.
Why is it whenever someone mentions an artist that was clearly progressive (yet not the Symph weenie definition of Prog) do certain people feel compelled to snort "thats not Prog" like a whiny 5th grader?
Listening to this album now on Youtube. I wanna say I probably heard it in the mid 70s at a party or something. In 1976 was listening, exclusively to purcussionists, especially Afro-Cuban, mambo and salsa groups. I saw Mingo at a concert at Winterland in San Francisco playing this music. It had to be because it was 1976.
Mingo was a percussion god. He shredded on conga drums. At the time I wasn't into this type of music (fusion). I'd attended that show to see some band from NYC ( might've been Ray Barretto or Tito Puente). Mingo was the opening act. We had our doors blown off. I couldn't believe he could play that fast. Very impressive. Good times.
I have an album by a band called (The) Tong, feat Mingo Lewis on drums. Kind of Police-like.
