I recently bought the new CD from Starfish64, The Future in Reverse, via Bandcamp: https://starfish64.bandcamp.com/ . I had actually discovered it first on http://progstreaming.nl .

    My review is at http://www.progressiveears.org/forum...re-in-Reverse?

Many thanks. Sadly, Eccentric Orbit is no more. No real prospects for gigs, no interest in CDs anymore, so we were finding it hard to figure out a way to continue. In the end, we couldn't and just called it a day. Happy our music brought joy to some! We certainly enjoyed the ride, tough though it often was.

Prog Day was sort of the culmination of my aspirations for the band. It was awesome to play for an audience like that; of that size and one that really seemed to pay attention to enjoy the music. That was an amazing experience I'll never forget, and I'm glad we got that opportunity. So glad you enjoyed!

I've updated the Trip Lava bandcamp pages for both "Oddball in the Corner Pocket" and "Octatroid". Both album profiles have a link for CD purchases. https://triplava.bandcamp.com/

P.S. I really like being able to download albums from Bandcamp in hi-res when available (and we offer a hi-res version of Advent's latest album there as well, BTW).
That's where I purchased Silent Sentinel when it first came out, specifically because I wanted it in hi-res.

Our band PRoPoRTIoNS is on Bandcamp, though I must admit, reluctantly on my part. As a consumer, my preference is hi-res, but because I haven't got a music server, I get mine through SACD or DVDa. One day I will need to update to a music server. And I find it hard not to let go of even the CD format. I just discovered Dean Watson's music reading threads like this and I'm putting in an order through Greg Walker's site. This is to help support musicians like Dean and guys like Greg as well.

In this day and age, one doesn't need a full fledged music server. The best sounding Hi-Res player I've ever heard, I s*** you not, is a little $35 Raspberry Pi computer running OSMC and Kodi, a free open source OS. The sound quality, while connected via HDMI to my Yamaha receiver, rivals devices like a $500 Oppo Blu-Ray Player. And since the Pi is a computer, one can connect thumb and external hard drives in any combination imaginable. The Sony Blu-Ray player I used to use to play my Hi-Res Flac files doesn't like USB hubs. To switch to another drive, I would have to power it off, then manually change drives.

One caveat though: a Pi would require an HDMI capable receiver with a decent DAC. Or you can spend an extra $15-$30 on a "Pi-Dac" add on board for the Pi, but that option would require a little more tech expertise.

So the DAC and HD are probably most costly items?

If you purchase both a Pi and a Pi-DAC for between $50 and $65 total, you can connect the RCA audio outputs of the Pi-DAC to any receiver and/or amplifier. Just be aware, you should be at least knowledgeable enough to install hardware and software on your computer for this to be a viable option at all. Either that, or you know a geeky teenager or young adult.

I just posted this in another thread, but why not also this thread?

My artist page: https://mattlebofsky.bandcamp.com - Lots of stuff in there all over the map. Maybe start with the album"Weakling" then "Fits" then "Buried."

    Other/older band pages:

https://secretchiefsthree.bandcamp.com - Secret Chiefs 3 - I play on a few of these "singles" and albums
https://bodiesfloatingashore.bandcamp.com - Bodies Floating Ashore - My dark/classic/rock/indie/prog/folk solo stuff
    https://fuzzycousins.bandcamp.com - Fuzzy Cousins - A weirdo/avant/indie/pop duo - Only band I played Warr guitar in!
https://threepiececombo.bandcamp.com - Three Piece Combo - Poorly named avant/garage/prog power trio
    https://mumbleandpeg.bandcamp.com - Mumble & Peg - Goth/folk/rock trio I played in for a long time ages ago
    https://dropsy.bandcamp.com - Dropsy - I played on the s/t album - Oakland prog/jazz heroes playing lounge pop!
https://researchanddevelopment.com - Research and Development - I play on a couple of these big band jazz fusion prog albums

    Jeez that's enough for now...

Meanwhile, my bandcamp "fan/following" page where you can see all my downloads - mostly of my friends' bands: https://bandcamp.com/mattlebofsky - some really good records in there!

OK. After years of forgetting to add Tamandua (my prog rock/free jazz/fake ethnic music fusion band) to Bandcamp, it is done. Gaze upon it, if you wish. Or, don't gaze upon it.
