Thread: PB II

    PB II

    I highly recommend this band.

    Symphonic/Neo

PB II is up there with bands such as IQ

They are a current band from the Netherlands. Vocalist sounds like Jon Anderson from Yes. They have made 3 superb albums so far, each one very good indeed!!..... They were formally known as Plackband, another great band to check out, though really the same band.

    Thanks for posting this.
I think I'm going to start with getting a copy of Plastic Soup and then work my way up to Rocket.
Love the ecological message while still presenting great music.
I checked out Plackband and think I like this version better as the original vocalist wasn't my cup of tea, but PB II sounds great and the keyboardist sings great as well.

Slightly related: I liked "The First Of November" by November, which was formed partly by members of Plackband.

I have the Plackband album and enjoy it. I don't think the singer of that album sounds remotely like Yes but it fits the music, which is interesting. I don't think they sound like IQ, and I don't know that I'd call it neo at all. They have their own sound. But I have not heard PB II.

The singer I believe he's referring to is Ruud Slakhorst who sang on the 1000 Wishes concept album. He does have a voice very similar to Jon Anderson.
The original singer was Karel Messemaker on the Visions cd , and now as PBII, they've reduced the band to a 4 piece and the keyboarist Michel Van Wassem is the lead singer.

I did not say they sounded like IQ, but comparing them to their brilliant sound is what I was referring too.

Thanks again for sharing info about PBII and referencing Plackband in your comment.
I'm going to be picking up some music from both versions of this group.

Ah, I didn't realize it was a different singer on PBII.

Interesting interview with Ruud and the band on the making of 1000 Wishes, which is pretty heavy due to the subject matter, a child with cancer.
There is a video of the concert 1000 wishes on YT if you're interested.

and of course their new release is Rocket.
I kind of like Plastic Soup from the videos the band released for it.

I think they should talk Jon Anderson into joining when YesARW is on siesta, and they could change their name to PB & J.
