Yes indeed, a great list there, Ian. Listened to the new Far Corner last night. Need more time to absorb...obviously some great stuff on there. Not ready to give it the nod over Koenji Hyakkei as album of the year yet, but it will be up there.

A very strong year imho. Wanted to post a top 10 but felt I had to leave to many excellent records out. So I made a top 15 but still feel It does do justice to some albums which I left out.

2 Mary Halvorson – Code Girl
    3 Far Corner – Risk
    4 Bob Drake - L'Isola dei Lupi
    5 Jonathan Finlayson – 3 times round
6 Homunculus Res – Della stessa sostanza dei Sogni
    7 Cheer-Accident: Fades
    8 Gogo Penguin - A Humdrum Star
    9 Basta – Vertigo
10 Alco frissbass – Le bataleur
    11 Not a good sign - Icebound
    12 Thumbscrew – Ours & theirs
13 Angel Ontlava & vespero –Carta marina
14 Jack O' The Clock : Repetitions of the Old City II
    15 Vak - Budo

Still have to hear the new Gösta Berlings Saga and Gungfly.

yup, most likely top 3 for me

in some ways it echoes Scherzoo's 03 and Setna's Guérison.
my music collection increased tenfolds when I switched from drug-addicts to complete nutcases.

I have to say that the non-prog choices are the more intriguing for me. Prog I can find. The rest not so easy.

Hats off for Mary Halvorson, Suuns, Sumac.
