I'm not fond of their Awaken down a whole step + symph frills version. They could swap it for two or three shorter tunes and the set would be better off, me thinks..... Or do Endless Dream instead.
I caught them early in the tour last time before Rabin blew his vocal cobwebs out so I'm looking forward to seeing them now that they have had some years to gel as a band.
if all they did was swap awaken for endless dream I would be happy. but instead were probably gonna have seen all good people instead of I am waiting.
Death inspires me like a dog inspires a rabbit
Do they keep playing all the same songs?
To date, the set hasn't changed much. The band has a European leg next: we don't know what they're going to play, but advertising for the UK shows has indicated that the set will remain the same again. We don't know what the US leg will bring: it might change a lot, it might change a bit, it might not change at all.

Where have you seen the setlist?
We had tickets for the Clearwater show for their first tour but couldn't go. I would hope they've changed the setlist a bit since then.
I would like for them to focus on the Trevor/Anderson Yes period and throw in some of the classic songs.
I have to admit I've liked the freshness of the older material the Yes band is playing. They're playing around with it a bit, and I like it. They also seemed to be enjoying themselves more, and I attribute some of that due to the energy Billy Sherwood has brought.
I'd grown tired of some of the classic material cause I'd heard it the same way for 40 years, and when a song like Starship Trooper would come one used it as a good opportunity to go to the men's room.

^^^ That was a good setlist from Fall 2017. I was not so impressed with the earlier ARW tours' setlists--not enough Rabin era. I hope Perpetual Change is the whole song and not just the intro as on the Talk tour. I would enjoy seeing that show.
Thank you. That Ruth Eckerd Hall show is the one we missed.
So far this year they'll be on the east coast of Florida, but nothing near us.
Ordered 2 tickets last Sunday for the Capitol Theater Show in Clearwater for the Yes 50th Show and they already arrived in the mail already.
Our seats are just two rows higher than when we saw Steve Hackett there on the Wolflight Show(terrific show).
wow, 2 different Yes 50th Anniv. tours!

Thanks Henry, yeah I've been following just about everything ARW I can get a hold of from the announcement their collaboration was really going to happen up until now.
I think it's sad bands often get in a rut and feel they have to play the exact same setlist every tour. Genesis did that for years, if you went to a Genesis concert one year, you'd get the same concert 15 years later. Also I like to hear them mix it up a little bit with the older material and just don't play it exactly note for note and every nuance exactly the same every tour.
I've been getting into both Yes' Live at Mesa and Bristol, and especially in Bristol they jammed the songs up a little. Refreshing at least to these old ears.
I had hoped we'd have a new cd from ARW by now which would be nice to have new material in the setlist.
Hi Doc, not quite sure my comment deserved such a strong comment, but if you're a Genesis fan like myself, I think I understand it.
Of course they add a few songs, or in the case of The Way We Walk played songs from that album, and every tour in support of a new album they played songs from the new album.
I've been to a Genesis concert every time they came to the US since the Selling by the England Tour.
Perhaps our definition of setlist differs, I don't know. I was referring to the bulk of the shows consisting of the same songs every tour Old Medly,Home by the Sea, Domino, Invisible Touch, Drum Duet, Turn it On Again, Tonight Tonight Tonight and one or two I might've missed.
I am a huge Genesis fan and as I said, I've been seeing them since 1974 and buying their music before then.
In no way was I critical of the band, it's just over the years with many of the same songs, I would've liked to hear some different songs from the catalog.
I remember during the reunion tour how surprised I was they added Ripples which they hadn't played on tour for a very long time.
I understand bands need to play their "hits" as expected by fans, but I'd have hoped I wouldn't have to sit through one more tour of "it's audience participation time" before Home by the Sea..(love that song), and I'm also a big Phil Collins fan.
^^ Hey Top Cat -- I'm a huge Genesis fan as well! They're still my favorite band actually; love all their albums, even the 80s/90s stuff.
Was curious, what is your display pic from? It looks very familiar...
I think you make a valid point about the Genesis tour setlists not being very dynamic over the years (after a certain point in time at least). "Ripples" was such a nice surprise on the 2007 tour.
That pic is one I got off the internet many years ago. It was first used on my blog and for various synth/keyboard forums, and Facebook. Surprisingly it's a fairly common pic that I've seen before. I've also interchanged "seamonkey" when not using Top Cat. I use Top Cat for my alternate soundcloud page but with a different cat image, the alter-ego cat villian, Dr Y featured in the fictitious film The Man Without A Gun. lol
I love all things Genesis, enough so I'd probably go to a Chester Thompson/Daryl Stuermer Does Genesis concert.
I'm probably one of the few people on the planet that actually likes Calling All Stations. There are some good songs on that album, and I think if the tour hadn't sunk on them, and they did another cd with Ray co-writing, it might've worked.
But with all the challenges of line up changes over the years I think they gave it a good run.
We had tickets to the US tour for Calling All Stations but they cancelled due to lack of sales.
Funny we had tickets to go see Jeff Lynne for the Zoom tour which also cancelled due to lack of sales.
Now look at the resurgence in Jeff's career. The world is funny that way, isn't it?
We're both big Genesis fans then, and if you're that diehard, you would know that your statements that 1) they played the "exact same setlist every tour" and 2) if you went to a Genesis concert "you'd get the same concert 15 years later" are simply blatantly false statements, or to be more diplomatic if you want, egregiously gross exaggerations. Every tour (except the reunion tour of course) they played new songs from their new album, usually about half the new album. They usually pulled out at least one different "very old" tune from the past per tour to highlight. On the 82 3SL tour they played the complete Suppers Ready for example.
In the Cage medley was varied over the years on what they played btw Cage and Afterglow. It was a beloved concert staple that paid tribute to the older 70s Genesis. The "Old Medley" was changed up on every tour. Home by the Sea was one of their great long prog staples of the 80s, not a hit. They played it on 3 tours. Domino was another long prog tune, not a hit. They played it on 2 tours. Would you have rather heard Illegal Alien and In Too Deep rather than those tunes? Invisible Touch and Turn it On Again were their biggest hits--of course they are going to play those. IT was played on 2 tours (again I'm not counting the reunion tour). And speaking of the Reunion Tour, that setlist most resembled the 1980 Duke Tour, which was not a bad thing at all, and contained way more proggy instrumentals in place of pop hits they could have played (Misunderstanding, Paperlate, In Too Deep, Illegal Alien, Man on the Corner etc). So all I'm saying, in the interests of accuracy, lets not play fast and loose with the facts.
I mean, it's not like they are Yes, playing Roundabout and Owner of a Lonely Heart every single show for the rest of eternity....
oh no, not Illegal Alien pleaseeeeeeee!
I don't want to derail a Yes thread with too much Genesis talk.
I'm sorry you feel my comments were misleading and full of falsehoods. I'm happy you're a fellow Genesis fan.
I've explained myself and I can do no more.
I appreciate your contributions here as I've been reading this forum for several years and it's been a wonderful source for information as well as keeping up with new releases I may have missed.
Now I think I'm going to indulge in a few adult beverages with the lovely missus and all this Genesis talk has left me with the desire to put on the Genesis Live at Wembley DVD(I think my favorite) and after that close out the night with Yes Live at the Bristol Hippodrome DVD.
good day and happy proggin
I think the comment was about every show during the same tour having the exact same set list. His wording was off and it appears he clarified.
