In late September 2017, Philadelphia art rock band The Red Masque started work on their fifth studio album (working title "Fathomless") at PhillyJam Recording. Helmed by owner / engineer and Sigma Sound alumnus, Mark J. Montoro, PhillyJam is also where TRM vocalist Lynnette Shelley recently recorded with Green Cathedral on their album "Winter's Veil" .

The new album will feature the songs "Fathomless", "Where Once Were Rivers", "The Shallows", "Serpentine", "Malum", "Snow Moon", "Silver Scales" and "Sand & Sea." The band was also joined in the studio by guest violinist Alice Marie .

As of March 2018, the band is nearing completion on recording the initial tracks and will be starting to mix shortly. The new album should be available by the summer.

In conjunction with this recording, the band will be working with filmmaker Jay Miller to create an official music video for "Fathomless".

The Red Masque are seeking to raise money for both the production costs of this music video as well as for the cd duplication and mastering costs.
Any additional money raised over the asked for amount will go back towards paying the significant costs already invested in the recording process and / or to get an upgraded CD product.

We thank you in advance for your support as it means the world to us.

Just a update: we have time booked with the filmmaker for late May to create the video for "Fathomless". This week we are headed back into the studio to record an intro ("Sand & Sea") and also a short musical reprise to "Fathomless" (called "Fearless"). It might seem like we have a lot of time, but the album will be out by summer, however, we need your help in order to cover the costs for CD Duplication / mastering and the video. Please donate what you can. Every donation level gets a reward. Help make this album a reality. And if you have donated already, thank you. Help spread the word far and wide. We can't do this without you.

    Lyrics to "Fathomless" are below.

Here we are at the edge
There's no more to be said
But we can't stop our swimming
Hunger drives us on (and on)

The scent of blood in the dark water
We don't want to make waves
With our black eyes we shall seek
All others give way to our need
    Fathomless need

Be still and let me drown
    Stop swimming, let me sink
    Fathomless and fearless
    The darkness bleeds

    There is no empathy
    There is no relief
    Just blood in the water
    And the frenzy of beasts
The tides go on and on

Be still and let me drown
    Stop swimming, let me sink
    Fathomless and fearless
    The darkness bleeds

We hold on to our emptiness
    We hold onto our greed
    We're sharpening our teeth....

Looks like you're almost up to $500 now!
How long does the fundraiser last?

  13. #13
It should last til sometime in June or July at the latest - basically whenever we are ready to get the songs mastered.
We'll be doing the video shoot in third week of May though.

We were just at the studio tonight working on a vocal reprise ("Fearless") to the Red Masque song "Fathomless". Catch a snippet of the mixing process here.

In a loosely peripheral matter, while in my car yesterday with another old man former bandmate from 45 years ago, Green Cathedral happened to be in the cd player. He said "who the hell is that". I replied, "I've known the singer & her husband since 2007 & would call them "distant" friends, and you ought to hear the other band they're in together!".

He says he's going to buy GC & check out RM.

Last night we were in the studio again working on mixes of "Fathomless". The song has all elements recorded except for one final violin part on the end, which violinist Alice Marie ( www.alicemarieviolin.com) will record in May (she's currently on tour with one of her bands).

We go back into studio Sunday to continue mixing so we can have a template to give to videographer Jay Miller so we can start blocking out the new video (which we are set to create in mid-late May).

In the meantime, please enjoy this video clip of a work in progress mix of"Fathomless".

Please help spread the word so we can reach our goal for the recording. All money raised will go toward video production and cd production and mastering costs.

We are almost done mixing our song "Fathomless". We got the bulk of it finished last night and are going back in to the studio tomorrow night to finish (with the exception of the last violin section, which guest violinist Alice Marie still needs to do - she's on tour with her band and won't be back until May). WE're trying to get as much done on this song first as we want to hand it over to the videographer so we can start planning out the video shoot in later May.

Here is a video clip from last night where engineer Mark Montoro was working on vocal mixes.
