Yes. I know that very well. I was not able to afford it. That is why I am thrilled to get another chance.

He was also in Chicago last summer. I'd like to see Keith Jones on bass, but I'm not a big City Winery fan so I think I'll pass this time around.

    He's 75 and doesn't tour very often.

Indeed, I really hope he comes to NC on this tour. Saw him in Milwaukee while in high school, on the Individual Choice tour, great memory. Still play his Atlantic era ('75-'85) albums often.

Good point. I just don't expect it will be much different than the show I saw last year.

I was a bit surprised at how good the show was last year. Go! Worth it. Although I do admit the 10 min drum sola was a bit overblown.

At the APB show I saw, Griffin was several minutes into his solo, then there was a pause, and then he started up again. Some guy nearby could be heard saying, "Really?".

All I can say about the show I saw at Saratoga last summer with the same band is that I wish it was longer.

missed his AZ date (if there was one) bummed!
Why is it whenever someone mentions an artist that was clearly progressive (yet not the Symph weenie definition of Prog) do certain people feel compelled to snort "thats not Prog" like a whiny 5th grader?

HAHA! This more or less happened at the Austin show too - it seemed like we all were in agreement when that pause came around 3-4 mins - ok - that was cool - nice little solo - NO. Collective 'sigh'

Oh man, I forgot about that! Yeah, it was pretty unbelievable how long that went on.

Was it as boring as the drum solo ARW had?
    (And I am a drummer!)

Missed him in Detroit last time around. I'll not make that mistake this year. Like another poster mentions, JLP is 75 so he may not make it over to the States too many more times. He, along with Pat Metheny and Michael Franks, has god-like status in Detroit.

For me it started off quite nice... but after a couple minutes he stopped and I thought it was over - a nice concise little solo - yay... nope. started up again and then turned into a sort of free-for-all blasted solo with just notes blazing by - no really good hook. Oh well.

Can I ask why you dislike the venue so much?

August 26- Westbury, NY @ The Space at Westbury announced. That's close enough for me but still hoping for a Manhattan show.
