Cubs and Pirates battled to a 2-1 Bucs win today in 11 innings. With that score, they became the first teams in the past 32 years to play a four game series, and have a combined run total of 10 or less.

Ugh, Giants...blown out 2 days in a row by the lowly Reds, and unable to score runs in the biggest banbox in the major leagues.
They should really think long and hard about some major overhauls next season. The current window is closed. Time to open a new one!

Braves ‘pen issues persist, and the starters are inconsistent. A hot run from either team—or even the Nats—gets them the division.

Glad to see Acuna receive player of the week honors. More glad that he didn’t miss time after that chickenshit move by the Marlins.

Where's Lou at? I need someone to commiserate with.

My Reds just stink and seem to always stink lately. They have given everyone away the last few years and all those prospects have done nothing. The trade for Harvey was a step but he's not been great nor awful like he was with the Mets.

Other than that, we got Votto and Hamilton, who has the speed of a cheetah but can't get on base to use said speed.

I made a bet with my Pittsburgh Pirates friend that my Reds would finish with a lousier record than his Pirates. Gonna win that one, again. He always loses bets with me as he's delusional and not logical. He's lucky I gave him a break as I said the Steelers would not win the AFC champ game against the Patsies, which I technically was right about but since they didn't even make it to that game I let him off on a technicality. I also said James Harrison would make the play to win the AFC champ game and I also, again, was right, it just happened against Jacksonville instead of Pittsburgh.

He still owes me for that one.

I suck at casino gambling but am great at bar bets.

Most of my bets are with Bill Belichik and Tom Brady. Until they are dead, cremated, thrown into the ocean and eaten by sharks, then and only then will I bet against them.

Doesn't work so well with point spreads and the like but it works with drunk people.

The Nats waived Daniel Murphy, and he was claimed by the Cubs. They've also reportedly waived Bryce Harper, who also was reportedly claimed, but no reports yet on by whom.

Harper's waiver claim expired, apparently. He's staying with the Nats.

I still don't understand how all of this works. I get the general idea, but it's kinda complicated.

Yeah. It’s confusing. Adams and Murphy were the only players moved.

Cards getting Adams is big. Having watched the Rockies last week, it seemed obvious they needed a first baseman. Perhaps they’ll work a deal for Reynolds.

The Brewers are beyond stupid if they don't at least try to get Gio G.

I'm hearing the Dodgers claimed Harper, but couldn't work out a deal; Nats probably still asking for too much, so he stays with Nats.

A bit of a head scratcher for Cards to get Adams back after basically giving him away at the start of last year. They already have a 1B Martinez who is a very good hitter but lousy fielder, with no place to play because they moved MCarp from 3B to 1B. Adams has LH power but he'll mostly be coming off the bench. The Cards were sellers at the AS break and didn't really add any players to help the team (the obvious one would have been Machado). Now they've been playing much better, Carp on a long hot streak, and they figure they are back in it and become "buyers". Very ramshackle and haphazard of an approach.

How would you like to be this dude??

Reds bat against the Brewers in the top of the ninth today, in a tied game. First two batters record outs. Milwaukee makes a pitching change, and brings a
reliever named Jennings to face ex Brewer Scooter Gennett. Jennings first pitch is deposited over the right field wall for a home run. Jennings gets the loss
after throwing one pitch. He was subsequently pulled after the Gennett homer.

    Thanks Redlegs!

My fav stat of the night is that the Baby Bears have scored only 1 run in each of the last 5 games, all on solo HRs.

Are they starting to panic in Maddonsville?......

Kolten Wong has made 2 incredible Ozzie Smith like plays the last 2 nights vs the Dodgers. Things are getting very interesting....

The injury bug is making things difficult in the Bronx just in time for the final stretch. Judge, Sanchez and Gregorius on the DL. Stanton, who has been on fire, has been nursing a tender ham string for weeks. Chapman left last night and is likely headed there, too. David Robertson couldn't come in relief due to a sore shoulder. And the BoSox are finally showing some fallibility. Things are pretty dicey, but also very interesting.

Cards sweep the Trolley Dodgers in LA by beating closer Jansen in the 9th on a game winning HR for the 2nd time in 3 nights (Dont cry Mary Hart!). Cards started rookie pitchers all 3 games. 17-4 in August, best in bball for the month. I'm a believer at this point.

The Cards and Phillies are moving in opposite directions.

Aaron Nola just out-dueled Max Scherzer to bring his ERA down to 2.13.

Exactly what the Phillies needed. Now, if we can get a Braves loss.....

Not too likely. Braves are in Miami for four.

    You're calling a sweep?

It’s not impossible, but I sure am not the one to prognosticate. I’m sure Vic will keep us posted on the Marlins’ wins and losses this weekend.

The Pirates @ Brewers game earlier tonight will be the highlight of every baseball related show tomorrow. I'll just pique curiousity by telling you it took 5 hrs. & 36 min. and went 15 innings.

    The specific circumstances are insane.
