KNOWER played in Cambridge UK last weekend any thoughts....

Went to see Knower at the weekend here in the UK and despite a dodgy PA they were fabulous.
I feel elements of Bruford, Brand X and Zappa and they are really into Holdsworth and such like.
I know they have had the odd mention here but really deserve more.
Comes with the obligatory warning that they are extremely funky and have chops to die for.

Although my first reaction was, "That singer's in the wrong band". Not that she's anything but excellent - but someone with that kind of hap'nin' marketable style doesn't need to share the spotlight with a bunch of jazzbos who don't want to or don't know how to disappear into the background. But then I found out that the actual "band" is just her and the drummer, who overdubs all the instruments on record. The other three are hired hands. And that makes a lot more sense - a singer like that needs nothing more than a producer as a "band", and that's what they've got. That particular producer just happens to play instruments, rather than being a beat programmer.
