    Prog Metal Forums

I used to listen to the Perpetual Motion forum, about prog metal, back in the late 90s/early tens. Then the board split into two different boards each with the same name. Eventually, I gave up trying to keep up with either. Anyone know what the/a main prog metal forum is these days? I don't listen to much prog metal these days but wouldn't mind checking out the scene again to see what's up. Hopefully fewer Italian bands trying to sound like Dream Theater now!

The Perpetual Motion boards still exist, but like you said, they sort of split into more than 1.

The Perp Board even has an offshoot FB group

Otherwise there's a lot of Prog Metal discussion

Haha, I was a frequent poster there circa the late '90s-early '00s, too. I remember you from over there.

Do you? For a pretty long time I used this (or something close to it, but smaller!) as my avatar. What name did you use?:

No, it's the blonde guy from The Bay City Rollers.

Unfortunately, many in the prog metal community have abandoned forums for Facebook, so there isn't as much discussion as there used to be. The ProgPower USA forum is worth going to if just to see the organizer's year end Top 50 list for the year. (Not all prog metal, but a good summary of probably the best releases and maybe some stuff you haven't heard from.

LOL. Don't know if I can change from Dr. Zaius, but the Bay City Rollers guy used to freak out Michael Popke, perhaps the most famous poster at Perpetual Motion! Man, did he love prog metal!

Or is it LarryD I'm thinking of? I see he's still on PMRising!

I don't know if you are still looking but besides the forums mentioned, the reddit progmetal forum might interest you. It's very active so that's a plus:

    https://www.reddit.com/r/progmetal/

I'm actually curious to know what other progressive (metal or non metal) forums people here check out as well. If you read German this is a good one: https://powermetal.de/forum/viewforu...db799e0540078a

If you read Italian this one is good too: http://www.truemetal.it/forum/forums/progressive.25/

    Does anyone else have suggestions?
