A guy I play in a band with has asked me to tune to A=432 Hz because he says it is "more healing". What should I do?
I thought about sending him an article about distortion having some adverse effects and suggesting I'll tune to 432 Hz when he loses his Tube Screamer.

I've had a few guitarists that wanted their guitar tuned to A=432 as I was setting it up. Here is the alleged reasoning behind it:

Now if there were serious studies of the effects of different tunings on human physiology I might be inclined to think there was something to it. I wonder what this does to those with perfect pitch or those savants with synesthesia?

It's mainly just a pain if you also want to jam with some other people in standard tuning. I will have see how much of a pain it is to change the reference frequency in my tuners on the fly.Is it a paid gig?

That sage shiat is pretentious as all hell. The band I saw Thursday night pulled that stunt before their show. It was like watching a gig at Olive Garden.

As for the healing power of 432. I'm not a believer in such things (the linked article has some pretty nice-looking pseudoscience), but as a somewhat fan of metal, any excuse to tune down is going to be kind of OK in my book

People have always been in disagreement about what the 'proper' frequency to tune to is. I say why bother!

I read an interview with Mark Farner recently and he was praising the 432Hz tuning....I checked, my AVID Eleven GTR rack can be calibrated to 432Hz (If I were ever so inclined)...
