Somebody give this thread a 'bump' when UK dates are announced!
I'm struggling to imagine how Nad will approach the GTR songs though? I actually like Max Bacon's voice.
So basically a NY and CA and a few cities in Canada ? Ticket sales collapsed in the Midwest ? I mean how many times can he “revisit” the barn with the same cash cow ?
I actually don't mind max bacon and really enjoy GTR's live recordings. will be interesting to see how he chooses to redo some of them. I guess it doesn't necessarily have to have two guitar players because a lot of the guitar work was acting as a keyboard so those could be played by the keyboardist?
can't wait to hear him do sketches in the sun...
I wouldn't get too worked up about GTR, it's one song. His solo set will celebrate 40 years of Please Don't Touch and will also include special GTR number 'When The Heart Rules The Mind'
To be honest, the setlist except for the GTR tune is very similar than the last tour(last Feb for me)...he needs to refresh and get the old band back together for SM and Defector

GTR, hold the Bacon.
Presale code for Staten Island, and prolly others - GUITAR
"Henry Cow always wanted to push itself, so sometimes we would write music that we couldn't actually play – I found that very encouraging." - Lindsay Cooper, 1998
"I have nothing to do with Endless River. Phew! This is not rocket science people, get a grip." - Roger Waters, 2014
"I'm a collector. And I've always just seemed to collect personalities." - David Bowie, 1973

It will never happen but wouldn't it great for the fans if they could come together and do a "Rutherford, Hackett and Banks" tour. playing as a unit with selections from solo careers (Playing the "Smallcreep's Day" suite in its entirety, Tony's "An Island in Darkness" - a couple Hackett solo pieces) and then the second half of the set is Genesis selections.
This seems slightly more possible than wishing for a full reunion - but only just. But what a show it would be! Even if it was a one off - with a bunch of special guest singers (Noel McCalla, Nad Sylvan, Ray Wilson) Has Smallcreep's ever been played live? I listened to that again last week and wow what a monster piece of music is that - just amazing.
Don't think Rutherford ever toured his two solo albums (don't think anything from these even made 'Mechanics setlists) and Banks didn't tour any of his solo projects.
In fantasy world I would be interested in new music by such a combination...throw in Anthony Phillips as well, seems like he gets on well with all three.
I believe Pete Hicks passed away, and John seems to be retreating from live performances. I get why Rob Townsend can be off-putting, but he's a fine player and covers lots of instruments.
The ones I miss are Nick Magnus and John Shearer. That guy was an animal! His old bass player/backing singer Dik Cadbury was no slouch either.
I'm holding out for the Wilson-mixed 5.1 super-duper walletbuster special anniversary extra adjectives edition.
a few of the acting very strange tunes were played on the first Mechanics tour(Maxine, I don't Wanna Know, Halfway There) but they aren't the tunes most here would probably wanna hear.
but ya in this fantasy world gotta bring along Anthony Phillips as he played Keys on Smallcreeps day and did some collaborations with Hackett on his recent albums so could take part in those and do some early genesis tunes. I recall reading that had he been asked he might have taken part in the Milton Keynes reunion show so maybe he is up for a show or two some day...
Hoping for another live 2CD/BD package. There can never be enough.
Does anyone have the presale code for Collingswood? " Guitar" did not work.
Thanks for the Thread! I had given up on him coming back to Phoenix but lo and behold, he'll be there in February!
Excellent! Tickets purchased.
Thank you Progman. My tix are on the way.
