    Pink Floyd - 1969 Dramatis/ation Box set.
Probably old news around here, but I just to make known the inclusion of the below video content included with this box set.

Interesting but a bit discordant to these ears. It's hard to imagine concert stages like this anymore. People just hanging about.
I've got a bike you can ride it if you like

For me this doesn't work Zappa's tone and approach doesn't fit in nicely
I would have loved to hear Daevid Allen (who was there..) sit in with them

    Yep, a complete missed opportunity.
Zappa with Floyd sounds like a sub-par jam band.

What's interesting to me is the almost Frippish way he stands there, silently paying attention to the music and the other musicians, until he sees the point where he can contribute.
Cobra handling and cocaine use are a bad mix.

I think it hits and misses personally... before I heard it I assumed those two styles and approaches would be awkward at best. Frank finds a couple of places to live in there... but I agree for the most - just doesnt work.

Doesn't help that Gilmour starts spray-painting the place with his distorted slide guitar riffs/FX while FZ is trying to communicate his solo. Regardless, its super fascinating that this tape exists and this actually happened.
If it isn't Krautrock, it's krap.

Yep, along with the likes of Yes, Caravan (Zappa also jammed with them), Colosseum, Soft Machine, the Nice, Captain Beefheart, Ten Years After, Archie Shepp, Art Ensemble of Chicago, and lots of others...

There's all kinds of audio recordings of that Amougies festival.

Not "all kinds" - there is, to my knowledge, just one bootleg source. The rest, whether audio or video, is sourced from the films.

Isn't that the way it should always be when jamming with a set-up band

Yup, as if he'd seen a monster of some kind

Zappa presented all the bands on that festival, as "master of ceremony"

And he also jammed with Deep Purple, I believe
my music collection increased tenfolds when I switched from drug-addicts to complete nutcases.

The sbd recordings might still be in the hands of one of the festival organizers (this was suggested by Mr Karakos in his BNF interview, iirc).

This thread inspired me to grab Piper and Saucerful for the commute. Some stellar stuff on those albums.

As far as I know, these are two distinct films :
    Music Power
    and
    European Music Revolution

The page implies this is a single film of 215 minutes duration, but I understand there were two distinct films being shown when these were (briefly) released in 1970. I may be wrong, but I think once focuses on the pop/rock contingent, and the other on the jazz/contemporary ends of the spectrum.

Considering it was Pink Floyd who had the film pulled back in 1970, and now they've made a deal with Jérôme Laperrousaz (the film's main director - the other was his late father-in-law) to include the footage in their recent box (surprises me that most people in this thread consider this as a brand new discovery when I assumed many of us would have seen it nearly a year ago now), the main obstacle to a revival of the film has been lifted. As I've said elsewhere, Laperrousaz is busy re-working the footage, and has held a private showing of some of the unearthed/reworked footage, which according to a friend of mine who was able to attend, was impressive. I have no further information on what the exact plans are, but I would expect an enhanced version of the original film(s) taken from the original masters with lots of previously unseen footage. Unfortunately the sound doesn't appear to be hi-fi but the visuals look fine to me. If this does happen, it promises to be exceptional !

Yes, I did quite a long interview with him in 2000, but he was very reluctant to talk about the Amougies film in much detail. There's a lot of Gong-related stuff that didn't make it to my book as Gong is not its primary focus. I've met him briefly on a few occasions since, as he regularly attends Didier Malherbe's concerts.
