Geez; are Hyrrokkin (themselves) already gone?!

I remember getting their album from you, along wth the Stats (formerly Stay Fucked, who are actually very good) - but I only got to unwrap it yesterday! And so they're gone and there's a new band? Awesome, yet truly bizarre. Some of these units are so intricate and demanding in what they do that you'd be surprised at their level of activity.

I've been working very hard to get into Stern, btw (followup band to Time of Orchids, who were my fave name of the 2000s) - and they are, erh, hard. Although this is their obvious (uhm) hit single (and it's really great to hear his voice, after all):

Leave your mind open to the possibilities and maybe YOU'LL see Marc Charig, Nick Evans, Elton Dean, Louis Moholo, etc.

Because if you don't leave yourself open the possibilities, the only thing that is certain is that it will not happen for you.

Well, the reason I asked "Is This Progressive?" about these young girls is that, you guessed it, they are actually the new Yes, having bought the rights to the name & catalog. Personally I don't see much continuity with the history of that great progressive rock band, but hey, they bought the name so now they're Yes.

Accordion? Guy Klucevsek's a monster player;has been for many years and still at it,going strong. This piece has Tom Cora-cello and Diane Monroe on violin in addition to Klucevsek.I love this composition very much.Hope y'all dig it, also.

That would only be Progressive if it was a Steven Wilson production, then it would command a 20 page thread, or perhaps if it was Finnish or Turkmenestanian and had a name filled with double consonants and had 5 syllables, and a drummer. But I agree with the consensus here, that be Polka we have somewhat of a rich Polish population here in Mpls, and were educated of the music through numerous wedding parties. (glug, glug!)

Oooooh, nice try... You know I dig those Swinging-London/Keith Tippett boys hornplayers, but the bandoneon irritates me too much...
I have heard some tango where the harmonica takes the place of the accordion, and it strikes me as more acceptable/tolerable, despite similar sonic register

Actually once Berkmans comes in with the bassoon, I like it better, because Holmer goes rhythmic

The last minute of the track goes down easy
my music collection increased tenfolds when I switched from drug-addicts to complete nutcases.

Tito Puente! The godfather of Salsa music
Why is it whenever someone mentions an artist that was clearly progressive (yet not the Symph weenie definition of Prog) do certain people feel compelled to snort "thats not Prog" like a whiny 5th grader?

I'm sure we recently did an accordion thread - anyway gives me a chance to prattle on again about Fliflet and Hamre - Norway's best wah-wah accordion band.

    Hugues,
Two ways to cure your Bandoneonphobie:
    1. Astor Piazzola
    2.Dino Saluzzi

I'd rather get rabbies shots in the teeth like Ozzy did, than cure this phobia
