News of guitarist John Abercrombie’s death spread quickly earlier this week causing concern among fans across the world. However the August 2017 report has now been confirmed as a complete hoax and just the latest in a string of fake celebrity death reports. Thankfully, the guitarist best known for his album Timeless is alive and well.

Don't believe everything you read on the internet.

That is terribly sad news. I just looooooved his playing - the Gateway trio with Dave Holland and Jack De Johnette is my favourite guitar trio of all time.

Ah, crap...

My "gateway" into his playing was Kenny Wheeler's Deer Wan, and it's still a desert island recording for me. Just ordered his most recent quartet side. What a wonderful contribution to Music he made!

RIP to an amazing guitarist with an extremely high standard and feel. That posted video is amazing, unless he is playing with a thumb pick I don't know how he gets those tones with his fingers!
