Well, he buys the gas for them with the money he makes playing Wakeman's riffs.

I'm sure that he still makes more money from Asia than he ever made from Yes.
Music isn't about chops, or even about talent - it's about sound and the way that sound communicates to people. Mike Keneally

At first, I thought that the song "White Car" from the Drama album MUST have been about his Porsche...but, according to Wiki...

White Car", recorded in one afternoon, originated from Downes who wrote the music inspired by watching Horn drive his car at the time, a white Stingray, which was given to him by his record company. Horn proceeded to write the lyrics based on pop figure Gary Numan who used to perform with his face painted white, something which is referenced in the lyric "Move like a ghost on the skyline".

Very cool that Steve Howe drove a Bristol while all the others were buying the more obvious brands. I guess he wanted to avoid the cliche as he has stated, not only in his playing, but his driving. How English! I wonder what model Bristol that was.

I don't like country music, but I don't mean to denigrate those who do. And for the people who like country music, denigrate means 'put down.'- Bob Newhart

I bet you are right, but I also bet that he makes more from VKtRS today than he does from either Asia or Yes. I believe Gary Brooker said WSOP makes about $200K (may have been pounds) a year just from royalties. Don McLean has referenced similar numbers for American Pie. Video may not be quite in that league, but in any case, enough to keep your Porsche running.

porsche cayenne diesel, eh? some them have just been banned here in germany … tying in with the current environmental uproar and debates about cronyism between politics and the motoring industry. best not tell him. porsches are lovely cars though.

Also, he has 2 co-writers where Don McLean wrote "American Pie" on his own...

There is an episode on Brain Games (Netflix) that explains how our minds read stuff like this and sort of fill in the blanks before we've finished reading, or in some cases can fill in missing letters or symbols. Pretty interesting stuff, and I think that's why a few of us read this as "Motorhead".
