    New Music from Gregg Allman

Album coming out in September - I think this song is fantastic - written by Allman and his guitarist Scott Sharrard:

Although I generally much prefer the Allman Brothers stuff, I do have a few of Greg's solo albums and saw him live once. I like what I hear from this.

I heard this on NPR the other day. Helluva song, it's theme is soooo perfect for Gregg.

He has risen from the grave to record this album. Seriously, yes he died, sadly.

Gregg is just sorely missed beyond words. His music and the Allman Brothers as a group have had a profound effect on me over the years.
I'm still playing in an Allman Brothers tribute band. His solo output is mostly excellent. An amazing writer. Beautiful voice. Gentle soul.
I'm so glad he got to finish this album before he passed. It's hard to take that only Jaimoe and Dickey are still alive from the original band.

Man, that was pretty great. A wonderful swan song.

For sure. Gregg was always one of the most powerful vocalist in the blues/rock world. I'm totally excited about a chance to hear new music for the last time. I'm sorry to be whining but where are all the PE members who appreciate Gregg's genius and the chance to hear one more recording?

I hadn't known he was working on anything more. Don't know how I missed this before, but what a wonderful piece of news.

Yeah it was announced on his web site not long before he passed away. Easy to miss.

This is a great article about the making of this last Allman album. I have chills just thinking about his recording of Jackson Browne's "Song for Adam".

I'm bracing myself for "Black Muddy River," but I suspect there'll be more than a couple of those moments involved.

Thanks for the link - a very touching article. It's still hard for me to believe that Gregg has left. So sad. I can hardly wait for this release. I just pre-ordered it from Amazon. It includes a DVD. Does anyone know what's on the DVD?

On Amazon's order page for the Deluxe Edition you ordered: Deluxe package comes with two live bonus tracks, as well as Back to the Swamp: The Making of Southern Blood DVD.

Sweet. At times, the Allman Brothers (Gregg) elevate their music above my life long dedication to progressive rock.

very well-done video for "My Only True Friend":

And another one from the new album - his cover of a Willie Dixon tune:
