"Pete Townshend's Classic Quadrophenia Featuring Pete Townshend" - U.S.A. shows.

Yes, "Pete Townshend's Classic Quadrophenia Featuring Pete Townshend" will actually include Pete Townshend along with Billy Idol & Alfie Boe.

** The Who's Pete Townshend is transporting Classic Quadrophenia to U.S. audiences this September for a series of four special performances featuring music legends Pete Townshend, Billy Idol, and acclaimed tenor Alfie Boe. Townshend conceptualized an experience unlike any other by blending The Who's timeless album Quadrophenia with orchestral accompaniment. The London world premiere at Royal Albert Hall electrified audiences and will now be replicated in Lenox, MA, New York, NY and Los Angeles, CA only! The extraordinary musical journey kicks off September 2 in Lenox with the Boston Pops Orchestra and conductor Keith Lockhart. The New York and Los Angeles performances will be led by conductor Robert Ziegler, and the LA show on September 16 will support Teen Cancer America with a portion of proceeds going to the charity. **

Saturday, September 2 Lenox, MA Tanglewood
Saturday, September 9 & Sunday, September 10 New York, NY Metropolitan Opera House
Saturday, September 16 Los Angeles, CA The Greek Theatre

Anyone see the RAH shows? Tickets here are not cheap. Seems the $150 back balconies seats are gone. Some front $995 orchestras remain. (Plus fee$ of course.)

Please just call them $1000 seats. That is fucking ridiculous. If Freddy Mercury rose from the grave to do one more amazing show as an animated corpse I'm not sure I'd pay $1000 to see it from up front.

Q is a great album, but I'm not sure paying me $995 would be enough to get me to attend something like this.

I'd pay $1000 to see Pete, Roger, John and Keith perform Quadrophenia.

I saw the semi recent Quadrophenia tour. Fantastic! I saw The Who headline at Tanglewood in 69 and 70, playing Tommy.
People will cough up to see this. A few folks paid 90 and 100,000 dollars for a seat for the final NBA game a few days ago. One seat!

That title seems like it came straight from the Department of Redundancy Department.

You couldn't have paid me to watch it on TV.

I caught them a few times that year as well, once with an unknown band with the initials LZ opening for them.

"Pete Townshend's Classic Quadrophenia Featuring Pete Townshend".

I wonder if Pete Townshend is involved?

I'd pay a thousand bucks to see Freddie Mercury, so long as he was accompanied by Roger Taylor, Dr. May, and if at all possible, John Deacon.

The only way The Who would be worth that kind of money is if you could restore at least 3/4's of the original lineup (and since we're talking fantasy scenarios, restore Thunderfingers' ability to dial in a decent bass tone), with no auxiliary guitarist, and no horn section or backup vocalists. Just John, Roger, Pete, and a drummer and a keyboardist of your choosing. And give me the big laser show during Won't Get Fooled Again, too.

Just started playing the King Biscuit show from the Quadrophenia tour (Landover MD, 1973). Thunderfingers bass tone, check. Moon, check. Daltrey's voice in good shape, check. Band playing material like it matters, check. Turning up the volume.

"A Real Missed Opportunity" would be a good title of a history of the Who. Questionable mixing/remastering choices, letting some great compilations/live albums go out of print, releasing the wrong live shows, and tarnishing their credibility with things like turning Tommy into a Broadway musical or the tour this thread is devoted to.

I'm hoping that was auctioned for charity, but I'll bet it wasn't.

From the notes on a boot/roio of the show 2 nights ago-

    * This is classical version of Quadrophenia with tenor Alfie Boe singing most songs.
    * Pete only plays (acoustic) guitar on 2 or 3 numbers (and it was hard to hear it) and doesn't play electric guitar at any point.

So, "Pete Townshend's Classic Quadrophenia Featuring Pete Townshend" barely included Pete Townshend.

Apparently "Bellboy" was performed entirely on Triangle.

Absolutely incredible show... what power that band had.
