The first album you heard by ____ is still your favorite

This phenomenon is actually pretty common in my collection. A few examples: "Hero & Heroine" by Strawbs, "Solid Air" by John Martyn, "Io Sono Nato Libero" by Banco, "Movies" by Holger Czukay, and "Angel's Egg" by Gong. I have a lot of albums by these artists, but the first one I heard by them is still my favorite. Of course, with some artists I have no clear favorite album, and others I just can't remember which album I heard first.

    Two that come to mind:

Gentle Giant - Power & the Glory
    PFM - Chocolate Kings

It's hard for me to even remember the first albums I heard by a lot of bands. Genesis was probably either Abacab or And Then There Were Three, but neither made much of an impression. With Yes, the first album I heard was Tormato, which I borrowed from a friend in anticipation of seeing them live. I also borrowed Yessongs, but didn't hear that until after the show (which blew me away). This is likely why I've always had something of a soft spot for Tormato.

Tull was likely Aqualung and KC was likely Court, but neither are my favorites. My first Banco was Io Sono Nato Libero, but I like Darwin and Di Terra better.

Same here. TAAB was the first Tull album I bought and it's my favorite Tull, but did I hear Aqualung before that? I'm not sure. Chicago II is the first from them I bought and it's my fave, but did I hear any of CTA before that? Not sure.

One I am sure about - Humble Pie, "Smokin'".

One would have to limit him/herself to the albums they picked up by luck/hinge/, because nowadays with all the books and the web, it's easy to pck the "best" album of a band first, but back in the 70's, it really wasn't all that easy
I'll include some of my stlll second best-preferred my fave being in ( )

    Stand Up - JT (TAAB)
    Raw Sienna - SB
Cricklewood Green - TYA (Space In Time)
    Renaissance - debut
    Hymn of the Seventh Galaxy
    Abraxas (Caravanserai)
    Grey and Pink
    Solar Music Live
    Terrapin Station
    Chicago - Carnegie Hall
    A Love Supreme
    Bitches Brew
    Black Saint & Lady Sinner
    Dr. Sardonicus
    Black Sabbath - Paranoid
    Grand Illusion
    DSOTM
    ITOTCK (Lizard)
    Sad Wings Of Destiny
    Rainbow Rising
    Timewind & Ricochet
    Hoelderlin's Traum
Low Spark of High Heeled Boys
    Six Wives Hank 8
    High Class In Borrowed Shoes
    Black Noise

I probably forgot some (Journey, Boston, Violent Femmes, Anvil's respective debuts)

Also SEBTP, but I didn't like it at first... had to wait until ATOTT to appreciate it)
