Volume 1, Volume 2, and Volume 3 of my best ambient stuff from last year. 1 is the Frippertronic stuff, 2 is the knob twiddling, and 3 is one big meditative piece.

Putting the finishing touches on a new album. It'll be a collection of ambient/post-rock experiments that have been kicking around my computer for ever, that I wanted to finish up and put out there before I move onto the next big thing.
So I figured I'd release a single with shorter versions of a few of these experiments, 'cause that seemed like a musiciany thing to do.

Not ambient, just some old angry electronica that I dusted off recently and finished.

Something relaxing from this weekend. I felt like soundscaping without volume pedaling. All the swells here are from the TC Crescendo pedal.

If you're curious what the Mel9 sounds like. I got one about a month ago. Came across this last night; this was me experimenting with it about 5 minutes after unboxing.

Thanks for listening!
The Mel9 is my first venture into EHX's world of emulator pedals and I didn't know what to expect. I am fully convinced that there's nothing inside the casing but a magic spell. Having played with midi pickups and triggering samples from guitar and finding the experience inelegant and unappealing... I have no idea how EHX makes my guitar trigger these sounds in an analogue setting, elegantly, organically and latency-free.

I got the Synth 9 recently, been having fun with that. I've had the Mel9 for quite a while now and I thought I would try playing them in unison. I put the Synth 9 first in the chain then ran a cable from the dry output into the Mel9. Very strangely the synth sound came out of the dry output of the Synth 9 into the Mel 9 so I couldn't get one unaffected by the other. I must be misunderstanding something unless its faulty.Edit
edit: Actually its possible I got crossed when going thru the stereo reverb pedal...
Anyway, this is one of my efforts with the Mel9:

Apples and artichokes, pretty much. With the Crescendo there's no feeling of controlling the swells, and an ever-present anxiety that you're going to hit a note before the gate has closed behind the previous note and get a loud, full attack. And the gate does close pretty quickly, so any sustain has to come from delay and reverb.
It's best used as a toy when you want to sit on the floor. Someday, when I have cash to burn on a pedal that I don't really need, I want to check out the Pog 2, and see if that does a better job if autoswelling.

^ Thanks for that, as I suspected.
Here's one of my early efforts with the Mooer Ocean Machine (also has some Mel9 in there too). I modified one of the presets with the first delay (Liquid) set at about 500ms and the second (tape) at just under 2000 ms with a hall reverb.

As the new sig indicates, I've launched a long-form ambient guitar podcast. Enjoy.
