King Crimson 2017 Tour Box announced

As King Crimson prepares for the start of their US tour next month, June 16th sees the release of the 2017 edition of the popular Tour Box series. Consisting of 2 CDs of King Crimson history featuring every incarnation of the band from 1969 through to 2016, it comes with an extensive book containing archive photos and portraits of the band in action last year as well as an accompanying essay.

As with previous three releases in the series, the latest set present a mixture of extracts from rehearsals, new live recordings, elements from studio recordings, full tracks, alternate takes & finished recordings from 1969-2016, many of which make their first appearance on CD.

Of particular interest on the new set is the inclusion on disc 2, for the first time in KC history on a single disc, of every part of Larks’ Tongues in Aspic (some studio, some live) from Part I to Level 5 – interspersed with elements taken from the original studio sessions & rehearsals.

You can pre-order from Inner Knot (US) and Burning Shed (UK & Europe)

The biggest surprise is that Level Five is considered part of the Larks Tongues In Aspic canon! It does make sense...

To reference another thread, this is also why I have lost interest in Crimson.

You lost interest in Crimson because they announced the 2017 Tour Box?

wonder if that Larks IV under construkction will be marked as from a forthcoming construkction of light special edition?

would be nice to see them move along now that we finally got the 80s done.

also larks III unreleased on cd? guess it will probably be one of the live from japan takes so we have it on dvd cause I don't think there are any other high quality recordings of it live.

I do recall that RF did mention that connection at the time of the Level 5 EP. IIRC he had grown tired or was maybe just inclined to move away from the LTIA moniker.

The lineage is rather apparent. I find that FraKctured is almost like LTIA 4 1/2 rather than tied closely to the original from SaBB.

It began life as LTiA5 before they changed the title (and the opening chords make the connection pretty clear). IIRC, Robert's or Trey's diary also once mentioned work on a possible Level Six.

What if this is a clue and they're going to perform the five Larks Tongues In Aspics in order? Bets taken...

Hahahah that would be priceless. The past few tours every now and then they've done larks I, talking drum, and larks II in order.

Knowing them, it won't happen, or you'll get all 5, but in some convoluted order where all 5 happen in a set, but never sequentially. This version of the band gets shit for playing old material, but they do always switch up the order of the set and what songs get played night to night.

The tracklisting isn't really exciting in my opinion.
Way too much 2015-2016 live stuff.
Also, i was expecting the remaining instrumental from the first album, the title track, but no, there is In The Wake Of Poseidon instead, in an edit form.
I was hoping to finally reunite the first album as a whole instrumental version, but this time it doesn't seem to be the case.

    Well, i don't believe i'll purchase it.
