    Klaus Schulze. Shadowlands

    http://www.klaus-schulze.com

It's always great to see a new Klaus Schulze album come down the pike. For those that have been following his music recently this will be no disappointment. I had the opportunity to preview this release and I must say that I'm completely stunned. He hasn't lost any of his touch over the years. In fact, I think his music is stronger than ever. Pick this one up when it comes out. Release date is February 22nd.

I blame Wynton, what was the question?

Got this on pre-order: always keen to hear new KS.

Does it matter that this waste of time is what makes a life for you?

I'm trying to stay away form anything being auto-buy these days, but KS is one of my holdouts. I haven't been too impressed with his recent releases however, being the good sport that I am, I'll give him another chance.

    you'd better be right ffroyd!

For those of you pre-ordering....there are apparently two editions, one has a bonus CD with additional tracks. On Amazon (USA) the difference is only like $2 or something so it's kind of a no-brainer.

Actually, an even MORE interesting release in the pipeline for KS, for those who favor his 70's material:

"World premiere for The Schulze-Schickert Session 1975
The Russian label that has re-released successfully Klaus' Midi Klassik on vinyl, will release a long requested recording: The Schulze-Schickert Session 1975, an unreleased track of 45 minutes, divided in two parts, for side A and side B. Yes, it will come again as vinyl, in a limited edition of 1000 LP copies because the Russians and many connoisseurs around the world believe in this media. There will be also the CD version; because of the capacity of this media, it will have two bonus tracks, also from this private session in September 1975 in Klaus' house. More info later, when I have the cover and the actual release date."

Oh no! The pressure is on. If you haven't been too impressed with the more recent releases like the albums with Lisa Gerrard and the Ballet series stuff this might not be completely to your liking. I'm pretty much of the opinion that Klaus can do no wrong so maybe my opinion is a little biased. I hope you enjoy it.

Of course this was an auto-buy for me. Received my
CD (2-CD edition) today. Another Amazing KS release,
and anyone deciding to order should get the 2-CD edition
as the bonus CD is outstanding. The addition of Lisa Gerard's
vocals, and violin, flute & vocals by Thomas Kagermann add a
magical effect to the amazing music of Klaus Schulze.
ffroyd was Right. Stunning release !!

I think his work with Gerrard is some of his best material.

Amazon (US) has the release date as 3/26; I got a "shipping delay" email from Amazon a while back, so I'm not really keeping too close an eye on my mailbox just yet

    Well, here goes nothing...

I received this 2CD set in the mail last Saturday & have had it in the CD player ever since. I've given it a fair chance but it is just not clicking with me. There doesn't seem to be any energy, any drive. All 5 pieces meander along in a way I find, ultimately, boring & pointless. The production, however, is stellar.

I think Klaus & I have parted ways. It's been a fun ride. Thanks for some wonderful soundscapes.

I'm not entirely sure about liking the volcas on this one, but I sure as heck like the violin, it really adds to the atmosphere of the songs

This got some not very good reviews on Amazon too, but I'm enjoying it quite a lot. Yes, there are some very long, repetitive beats, but as usual there's a lot going on really, and the atmosphere is pretty captivating.

The liner notes on mine are in German - did anyone manage to get a 2cd digipak edition with English liner notes?
