RIP Ikutaro Kakehashi (Founder of Roland)

Last night I heard the news Ikutaro Kakehashi has died. He was the founder of the Roland company, which was the maker of my first synthesizer. They also made the famous TR808 drumcomputer and he was the originator of the creation of MIDI, which enabled me to create music.

Doesn't seem to have the same "depth-of-impact" as the passing of Robert Moog but SURELY this guy's contributions to the advancement of music technology is undeniable !!!

A Roland Juno 106 was my first adventure into the synth world, so I have a soft-spot for all things Roland.

    I still have my JD-800 & JP-8000

    RIP: Ikutaro....thanks for everything !

I supose his name is not as much associated with the synthesizers they made and the synthesizers are less well-known, than stuff like Moog, ARP, Oberheim, Buchla, and Yamaha.

My first "big kid" synth was a Roland U-20 when they were still new/popular, and I've continued to use Roland gear ever since: MKS-50, JV-80, XP-30, Fantom X6, etc...

RIP and mucho kudos for lots of inspiration over the years!
